We have an entire culture built on denial and convenience. We will remain almost entirely dependent upon fossil fuels until they're gone.
The Supreme Court has justices who are appointed for life. The reason for that was to keep them from being pressured by a political party in matters of law. No. Really. That's why. Seriously. And haven't we seen the irrefutable benefits of that? Gosh. Imagine how horrible it would be if legality was a moral question instead of an ideologically political one.
We have an education system that, despite false claims of holding a 'liberal biss' continues the strongly pro-capitalist, "American" exceptionalism rhetoric. Actual history is not a subject that is taught. A severely distorted US-centric narrative downplays anything negative and severely over emphasizes the actual accomplishments and contributions of the country. Greatest. As in cannot get any greater. We are PERFECT.
People here are so groomed that they not only have no functional understanding of what "universal healthcare" is, the arguments they use against it are actually components of our existing broken system.
Despite understanding, from as far back as the 1970's, the negative impact that media and advertising can have on self-esteem and satisfaction, the message of "you are not ____ enough" is stronger than ever.
When I was I was a freshman in high school I wanted to try pot, meth, LSD, quaaludes, and pretty much anything but heroin. Because the adults were so vehemently against these things that I didn't trust their judgment. Because I knew that adults didn't want what was best for me. They wanted me to do what was best for them.
That being said, and my being sixty-one years old, kids? A.I. is awesome! Worship billionaires! They're the best! And whatever you do, don't take advantage of strength in numbers and reshape this world into a better place! That would be AWFUL!
