OUGH... I've been sitting on this ask because I REALLY needed to think of an answer. The question of if he would have nightmares bounced around in my brain for a bit before it hit me that, YES, he WOULD. Why WOULDN’T he?
It lead me to having daydreams about him not sleeping well during the immediate aftermath of the finale/the few days where he doesn't have Peri as his Godparent. And OUGH... THEY'RE DELICIOUS. DALE THOUGHTS INCLUDED BELOW AS WELL.
ANOTHER part of why Dev doesn't show up to school for a few days? He's tired as FUCK. Cause he hasn't been able to sleep well, because he's had it lingering in his mind that he KILLED Peri. It's on his conscious no matter how much he tries to not think about it. AND WHAT'S WORSE IS THAT HE DOESN'T EVEN LEAVE HIS ROOM.
I mean, SURE, he would if his DAD wanted him to, but when would he? ...If he wants something. WHICH. OUGH. This gave me a spontaneous thought [literally JUST now] of Dale coming up to drag a very exhausted and emotional Dev out of his room... AND LIKE... IT MAKES HIM FEEL WORSE.
Cause... HELLO. DALE JUST BEING LIKE... "Go wash up and brush your hair or something. We have to keep up good appearances, you know! It's going to ruin my company's image with you looking like... *gestures.* THAT." AND... AND... OH MAN. RAGGHHH... THIS PROBABLY HAPPENS THE SAME DAY THAT DEV DOES HIS MINI FUNERAL... Ough. He's grieving and feeling guilty and... DHLSKDLSGDKZHZKZGZK
ANYWAY. SORRY. I WENT ON A TANGENT. DEV NIGHTMARES YES YES. HE HAS THOSE. I still have to think of the full extent/all the details, but BUT BUT... Peri exploding is absolutely part of them. Generally, that, and finale events, AND AND... the guilt creeps through into them too.
Even AFTER Peri shows back up as his Fairy Godparent, his guilt still lingers, for many reasons. You know, the fact that Peri is Wrong, the feelings he has towards Hazel/Cosmo and Wanda, OUGH... all of it. Nightmares filled with confetti and rainbows and him being all alone with nobody but himself and the ghost of the fairy he saw explode... WHEN YOU'RE A KID YOU CAN HAVE SOME REALLY FUCKED UP NIGHTMARES.
Someone BETTER give him a weighted blanket. And a teddy bear. AND like a million hugs... and a therapist.

What would you put in TLK 2 instead of the Upendi song?
Uhmmmm
More talking between Kiara and Kovu, mostly from Kiara. Because it's not only Kovu the "outsider" in his own pride, but Kiara too. Maybe her explaining how she is also forced to follow Simba's footsteps, that she is also trapped into a mindset but she wants to be freed from it and make her own decisions. Kinda relating it to the end of "Love Will Find a Way" where Kovu suggests Kiara to runaway, and Kiara then explains that while they are free, making their own decisions not only means what they want but what it's right.
Please tell us more about what you dislike about Polar Express!
Polar Express tends to get some credit these days for being the first movie to do what it did animation-wise, but it was absolutely considered creepy as sin even back when it first came out. It’s a movie about flat, dead eyed children surrounded by brusque, unhelpful dead eyed adults in a world where almost everyone is unpleasant to each other and the core issue is that children eventually start to cotton to the fact that Santa Claus isn’t real and this is terrible and a personal failing on the part of the children.
I hate Tom Hanks and his tsk tsking and scolding, I hate the stupid hot chocolate song and the stupid condition on not letting it cool, I hate the way it ends and all the children are sprawled out and groaning with disgusting chocolate smears on their awful faces and Mandark smacks his stupid lips like a Walrus eating clams and then says something in his godawful voice, I hate the staff of the Polar Express and their treatment of Dewey from TV’s Malcolm in the Middle who’s shy and grippingly poor and maybe abused and sitting in the back car all alone, I hate the creepy elves and their pointless song and the stern, patriarchal Santa that makes sure everyone walks away with a lesson and I hate the constant padding and the addition of a hobo ghost that fucking died on the Polar Express and I hate the way everything pertaining to the human characters feels spotlessly clean and also somehow incredibly filthy and I hate the way the whole movie feels like a stranger just walked in through my front door uninvited and stuck their finger inside me.
I wasn’t huge on the book as a kid, but I was huge onChris Van Allsburg, and the book was basically a Christmasy version of what he does best – an inexplicable, dreamlike thing that just happens. It’s profoundly wondrous. It’s not a trial by fire – it’s about a kid who’s at the tail end of that age when kids stop believing in Santa, but still holding out faith, and he’s treated to a cozy, beautiful, Very Fun experience where the kids spend their ride up to the North Pole eating candy and drinking hot chocolate and singing carols and everyone’s gentle and kind to each other.Â

What are your thoughts on a comic dub one day? I've been thirsting and starving for more toothsome lion drama and I would adore an opportunity to revisit this story from the beginning (*cough* again) but I'd also love to see it on a bigger screen than my phone allows (YouTube is great for this)
There are some garbage-ass dubs out there but there are also some SUPER talented voice actors I have listened to and loved
here's the thing
i used to allow comic dubs with my Miraculous Ladybug art. It was fun, the fandom was very united about them and there was a lot of hard work into it
And then the reposters happened
It was massive. Instagram reposting was dub over dub was so painful to watch. They come to you, ask about a comic with a dub and without waiting for permission, they just posted it. It was alredy hard to report single arts, but seeing the hard work of the VA's being disrespected that way?
And then there was an incident with a popular dubber that ended up stealing art too, dubbing without asking permission.
So i closed myself to them and stopped allowing people to do dubs. The only person who can do dubs of my comic is a friend of mine, @wintermoth and she still always asks first
And in TLK fandom the reposting is super super bad too
So yeah, that's my side about comic dubs. The art thieves once again, ruining the fun
I love love love love love your Lion King stuff, I get so excited whenever there's a new page of Perfectly Valued and I love lightly exploring your other work too. Happy fan <3
