Interesting Websites #6: Furbisms
furbisms.neocities.org is a website by @windowsapologist who is a mutual of mine.
I wish I could screenshot my mouse cursor! Besides being a pretty, custom cursor, it also leaves a trail of hot pink sparkles everywhere. I love dragging my mouse across the screen just to watch the particles fall.
Furbisms is an incredibly pink site. My own aesthetic preferences side towards rainbow color vomit, but I also love me a good pastel theme. Their VTube model is impossible to miss here, and adds a nice personal touch to the homepage.
For the most part this page is focused on being a link card for Furbisms, where you can easily find all of their platforms. Except, if you scroll down a little, there's also a section for the latest music they listened to:
Clicking on this will lead to Furbisms' last.fm page. I always love sections like this, the ones that show which media the webmaster is currently interested in, or what they're working on. They're so simple yet they bring me so much delight! Sometimes I discover new music to add to my own playlist through things like these.
The art gallery is small at the moment, but the artworks that are there are very nice to look at. I especially enjoy the lineart on these. You can view the full version of the images by clicking on them! Furbisms is also accepting commissions at the moment.
Personally, I find the Fun Stuff page the most interesting:
It's where the... fun stuff goes! The collections of graphics, the web shrines, the links to other cool sites.
There's these Wobbledogs and Spore creations which you can adopt into your game. I've never played either game, but I must say, I'm rather fond of 5Gum.
I also love staring at the virtual pets, and the trinkets shelf is equally delightful:
The highlight of the fun stuff section would be the let's plays and mini reviews page, however. Here, you not only get to hear Furbisms' thoughts directly, but select games even have mini shrines dedicated to them! You get to the shrines by clicking on the "see more" link.
Overall, furbisms.neocities.org is a delightful little site! It's not as big as the previous ones I showcased, but that doesn't make it any less interesting. My own site, at the time of writing this, is at a very similar point of its development (although I'd argue theirs looks a lot more polished and structured). Give it a visit, read some of Furbisms reviews, and adopt something from their graphics collection!
