I made an account on Resin Grove and that was by far the fastest I've regretted joining a forum bahaha.

The rule list is a fucking novel. Like girl...ain't nobody reading all that.

They're trying to go with hosting all images posted on the forum themselves. Like.......there's a reason all the big image hosters started charging money. Image hosting is expensive, especially with how much larger file sizes are these days. Mark me as doubtful of this working out.

Whole site is coded from scratch rather than using tried and true forum software. I've seen this train wreck before.

The dude that built the site admits to being assisted by AI coding tools to "write much of the code" for the site. Supposedly has 20 years experience in being a software engineer, but like excuse me if I'm iffy about the security of the site and how stable it is. On top of that it is literally just him doing code work.

He's also apparently a Trump voter (like...got a hat and everything, apparently [I haven't seen that specific picture myself]). Automatic ick.

Wifey (site owner/founder) is one of them spineless centrist types. "My husband is his own person with his own beliefs." and "I am personally disgusted by politics and don't like any politicians." are some sentences she apparently thinks makes her look good in her IG stories lmao. What are his beliefs? Spell it out for me. No need to be vague!

This rule: "Doll chat only - check real life at the door. No pushing personal beliefs, politics, or activism. No sharing personal real-life info or problems (yours or others'). The Fox Den (Off-Topic) is for light PG13 chat (hobbies, food, pets)." really reads different when you know about the above lmao. Also like...what does and does not count as "politics" and "activism"? Merely existing as queer (and in the case of our hobby, having queer doll characters) is considered ~political~ to a number of people.

Maybe don't join the new up-and-coming BJD forum called Resin Grove.

I know it looks really promising, I fell for it too, but not only do they use genAI for coding (and probably other things), the husband of the creating duo is very pro-AI and super MAGA. Apparently the wife/main creator is "apolitical", but yeah.
