Iron Lung Theory!!!
So, I was just thinking about how in the movie Simon says:
"I just wanna live. Is that so wrong? Why doesn't anybody else want that?"
Which is an AMAZING line, don't get me wrong! But I think that the next part doesn't get the love it deserves.
"Everyone at Eden just has given up... Y'know, nobody at Eden wants to think this way, but what's more likely? That every planet and star disappeared, or that a few space stations disappeared?"
And I just... What if they did??? What if the couple of space stations that were left did disappear, got sent to some alternate dimension? Some sort of cosmic judgement?
What if dying in that dimension, being judged, ends one of two ways? You're worthy, you've seen the light, the fragility of life and fought to the end. Or you were selfish, made unnecessary sacrifices and turned your back on humanity for the sake of survival?
What if, after everything that happened, Simon wakes up again? He had finally earned his freedom.
