SILICON SPONGE VS. BEAUTY BLENDER
I wanted to make a post about the silicon sponge vs. the beauty blender since contouring has become a huge thing over the last couple of years and these are what most people use when they contour, at least with cream contour. It has become such an important makeup tool that you see everywhere and there are so many people who love using these makeup tools.
So I’m gonna say what I personally think are the better - and worse features with both of them.
• Very easy to clean and also hygienic. Since it is a silicon sponge you can simply just wipe of the makeup with a baby wipe and all of the dirt and left over makeup that was on it is simply gone. It’s very hygienic because of this since it doesn’t keep left overs that can give your skin break outs or any other kind of skin problem caused by makeup brushes/tools.
• Not so big so it’s nice working with it because it is so small so you feel like you have quite a lot of space to work with while using it.
• Saves you a whole bunch of makeup when using it. Even the smallest amount of foundation can be used for a lot of space since the silicon sponge doesn’t absorb any of the makeup itself.
• I do somehow feel that it is a little bit tricky to work with sometimes and it does take you a while until you feel like you completely get the grip of how to use it good. It’s not as soft as the beauty blender is so it can make it trickier when trying to blend the makeup to your skin.
• I also feel that it is harder to make the makeup blend in with a silicon sponge then it is with a beauty blender, mainly beacuse it’s a bit harder, but also because there are edges on a silicon sponge, which there isn’t if you choose to use a beauty blender. The edges can feel like they somehow make the work a bit more difficult and you have to keep that in mind.
• Soft to hold and against the skin. Also very soft to work with while applying your makeup with it.
• Also here, not so big (of course depending on what size you choose to use with a beauty blender). The beauty blenders that I use are in the size as in the picture above which is not so big.
• Very good with making the makeup blend, since it is a sponge. It leaves a soft finish and no sharp edges.
• Quite easy to handle. I personally think that the beauty blender is easier to work with and handle than the silicon sponge. You use the same technique with both of them, but they feel different when you use them. I think it’s also partially because the beauty blender is softer than the silicon sponge.
• Absorbs a lot of makeup. The beauty blender is like a real sponge so it really does absorb very much of your makeup without having you thinking about it. When it comes to this point, I like the silicon sponge better since it really helps you save all of your makeup.
• Not very hygienic. Since it does absorb a lot of makeup there are a lot of left overs from the makeup that you use that stays there. I feel like even though you rinse it after every time you use it, you still can’t get rid of all the left over makeup that is in it. This is not so good because it never gets completely clean so it can actually help your skin break etc. and also makes you waste a lot more makeup than with the silicon sponge.
• Not as easy to clean. With the silicon sponge it goes so fast to clean it, while using a beauty blender takes longer time, especially since you want it to become completely clean and I never really feel like it is 100% clean.
• As said before, these are just my personal thoughts about the silicon sponge vs. the beauty blender but I do hope that it might be useful for someone who is considering trying one - or maybe both of them!
