Ah damn. I was really excited to see it. Is it redeemable at all? @8tea

It’s not particularly redeemable, no, but it’s one of those shows where if you were really invested in watching it, I might give it a shot anyways to see what you personally find tolerable! I enjoyed a few episodes of it until the plot slowed down and there was less fun story to distract my attention from all the stuff I actually found uncomfortable - because, hey, the plot is pretty neat at points! 

Like, don’t get me wrong, I’ve watched plenty of shows with shitty content and managed to enjoy them before, because finding something perfect is never gonna happen. For me specifically, I hit the point of ‘this is not interesting enough to be worth the rest of it anymore’ around episode 5.

I AM ALSO UPSET AND KINDA BORED. I agree with all of this and like....I could see this trip as leading to them becoming friends, but I just don’t understand what, based off of what we’ve seen, makes Tony such a romantic prospect that surma would fall for him in a few weeks? Like he’s nice and occasionally funny when he’s on his own but that’s it. And those are ok qualities but not something that I would immediately cheat on a long term partner with. Why are they in love??? This is so weird??

Also I agree I don’t think Tom meant it that way but that makeup scene is. Fucking weird in hindsight in a multitude of different ways and I am uncomfortable with all of them

I feel like they had basically officially reached the point of ‘okay, now from here they can be friends,’ not... ‘this is the level of investment in another person at which you decide to cheat on your boyfriend / cheat with your close friend’s girlfriend.’

WHICH IS TO SAY:

When it comes to her rez / her new E I think that as an ability this is perfectly fine, especially since you can string together E-Q-E for a multirez. A lot of playing Mercy adequately in recent times has been tempo-rezzing 1-2 people to get a leg up in a team fight anyways, because D. Va frequently being in meta made making mass rez plays difficult even if your team managed to organize adequately, nobody hunted you down, etc. I think this will help increase her uptime, because you no longer have a reason to straight up hide! I do think it will basically hard counter pick comps and playstyles, though, since, well, you can just rez any pick unless it’s Mercy herself.

As for her new ult... I will be the first to admit that it’s fun as hell to play! I still think it approaches balancing Mercy from the wrong direction, though. The reason she was previously so centered around her rez ability is because ever since Ana entered the game, Mercy was no longer the best at everything. Every healer has their niche: Ana provides the best heals and good CC, Zenyatta is really great for damage dealing, and Lucio provides utility with speed boost and support damage. Mercy is designed as a character that can do only one thing at a time (heal, damage boost, or shoot), and her problem is that she’s neither a jack of all trades (since she can only do one at a time) nor a master of one (since she is outhealed by Ana, outdamaged by Zenyatta, and provides no utility whatsoever).

So, all she had going for was her rez! Which is now something she is not quite as good at, kind of taking her niche away. Now, she... does a bunch of things a lot better than she did before, but she can still only do one thing at a time and she only does those things particularly well while she’s ulting.

I haven’t had the chance to see just how good her ult is in-play (especially not in competitive as played by actually good players), aside from humorous nanovalk videos, but I suspect that since the main issue of her character (both not having a niche and not being versatile) hasn’t actually been addressed, she won’t be particularly in-meta except for circumstantially or played by extremely proficient players like Animetic and EeveeA.
