Tagged by the amazing @tgmsunmontue and @sonnywrites ( Hi, hope you are doing well)
I can't remember what I shared from the Omegaverse wip, so have this snippet; I think that's new. Doing this a day early in my part of the world, only because I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be busy. If I did post, no, I didn't, and you're seeing things.
“No…. no Alpha….” Hollywood's blood ran cold, and Wolf froze behind him. “No Alpha near the nest,” Bradley whispered frantically, his words slurring together. “Please… please don’t.”
Wolf backed up immediately without needing to be asked. “I’m leaving,” he said gently, voice low and nonthreatening. “You’re okay, kid. Nobody is gonna force their way into your nest.”
Bradley didn't seem to fully hear him. His breathing worsened, his hand clutching desperately at the towels and blankets around him. Hollywood moved before thinking.
“Hey, hey, Baby Goose,” he climbed into the tub, pulling Bradley into his chest. Keeping a hand running through his hair and one rubbing up and down his back. “Look at me, just me.” Bradley's gaze struggled to meet his face. Hollywood softened his voice further, letting his own Omega scent slip free in the tiniest controlled amount he could muster. Rose, spring water, and vanilla.
“No Alpha near you,” Hollywood promised quietly. “Not unless you say so, you hear me?” Bradley stared at him for a moment. Then, slowly, some of the panic eased from his expression. The trembling didn't stop, though. Hollywood felt another piece click into place. This wasn't just grief.
Someone had scared this kid badly enough that even half-conscious presentation instincts were reacting. He clenched his jaw hard. When Maverick and Ice got here, they were going to have a very serious fucking conversation.
The storm outside crackled loud enough to rattle the windows. Bradley flinched violently at the sound. Hollywood reacted on instinct, pulling Bradley closer, then catching himself at the last second. He forced his movements slower instead, careful and deliberate, so he wouldn’t overcrowd the frightened Omega curled inside the nest.
“It’s alright,” he soothed softly. “Just thunder, Baby Goose. You’re safe here.”
Bradley’s breathing still came too fast. The poor kid looked wrecked. His curls were drying in uneven damp rings against his forehead now, cheeks still flushed bright with fever and presentation heat. Every few seconds, another tremor worked through him, hard enough to shake the towels and blankets wrapped around his body.
Hollywood hated how small he looked. Fourteen was already too young for this. Fourteen after losing his mother, after months of grief and isolation and God knew what else……
The thought resurfaced again. No Alpha near the nest. Not general presentation distress.
Hollywood’s stomach turned. “Hollywood,” Wolf said quietly from the doorway. He glanced up.
Wolf stood deliberately back near the bathroom entrance, making sure Bradley had plenty of distance between him and the nest. Smart. Even in panic, young Omega instincts could turn unpredictable if they felt cornered. “They’re here.”
Right on cue, hurried footsteps thudded from downstairs, followed by the front door slamming open hard enough to echo through the house.
“Bradley?!” Maverick’s voice cracked with panic.
Hollywood rose carefully from the tub, attempting to pull away from Bradley. “I’ll be right back,” he murmured. Instantly, thin fingers shot out from the towels and latched onto his wrist.
Bradley’s eyes were barely open, glazed and exhausted, but the grip tightened with desperate instinct. “Don’t,” Bradley whispered hoarsely. The single word nearly broke him. Hollywood crouched back down immediately.
