I had some help w/ the bg on this one, but I helped him with some hemming, so it's all fair. Anyway, this is silverleaf fungus. She infects host plants. You probably can't eat this, but I dunno. I'm not a scientist. :D

i rly wanna get into digital art but like ... i’m only really good at like painting which isnt bad but i’m honestly probably intermediate at best and digital art scares me
I practice a new shading techniques
I once had a pal ( @inhumanrobot ) ask about how to do cel shading after being used to softer shading.
Here’s an example of hard-edged cel shaded vs something softer. The only real difference is there’s no gradations in cel shading. When I blend, I usually make make a distinct difference between hard-edged cast shadows and softer form shadows*, but when cel shading, you just get one color and some shapes. So you just.. outline and fill in every part of the image that would have any kind of shadow on it. If you dont know where to put the shadows, there are a lot of lighting references online you can look at! * A cast shadow is a shadow under an object/protrusion in space. A form shadow occurs on the part of an object that is not facing the light source and is much more gradual when the thing in question is soft/round
