Cool IbisPaint X Filters!
Some of the awesome tools on the 'filters' menu and how to use them!
This is a long post
Stroke - automatically adds an outline! This saves time outlining but still gives you the same effect, you can even change the colour and size of the outline (stroke). You can use this on lineless art as well, it adds an interesting boarder that can mimic lineart, I don't have a good example of lineless art to use for this so I just hid the line layer on a regular piece (hence the messy colour) but trust me ๐
Drop shadow - you can adjust the colour, radius (size and blur), angle, and distance. If you combine it with stroke, you can create a sticker effect. This is really good for creating easy shadows for backgrounds too, just adjust the depth and colour :)
Noise - adds a noise effect, you can adjust everything from the strength and amount to the blending mode and whether there's colour or not. Really awesome for horror characters/scenes & for TV themed characters. There's So Much you can do with this filter & adding a 1-2% filter over any finished drawing can really make it pop.
Pixel/blur filters - there's a lot of these, you can use them to easily blur images that feature sensitive content, turn regular art into pixel art, and the dots filter can even give you a colour palette of your character/art which makes it so much easier to colour pick. You can increase the amount of blur/dots as well as the many other similar filters, some are incredible for making designs and backgrounds & are useful to censor art or specific elements of art.
Colour filters - these can help you adjust colors (hue), saturation, lightness, contrast, and so on. I love using these for designing when I feel like my colours are too unbalanced or are too saturated or bright for my liking.
The first filter is brightness & contrast and does exactly what it says on the box! The middle is greyscale, which is a great tool for checking your colour balance (and can be used for art where you want to draw in greyscale but aren't sure how to do it!). The last one is hue, saturation, and lightness which can change the general colour of an image as well as adjusting saturation which makes colours stronger or weaker. Lightness increases how light the colours are, essentially bringing them closer to or further from white on the colour wheel.
