Interest check - Gerudo and Yiga themed art event
Hihihi ! was thinking about hosting an event about Gerudo/Yiga ! As I saw Zora-may around and not gonna lie but it kind of inspired me.
So interest check ! Unsure about dates but maybe August ?Probably during the whole month ! will be busy in July with artfight and September is school year starting so many people would be busy. Would also probably host on discord as well.
(let me know if any dates seems better)
Would be in the form of prompts and just draw around Gerudo/Yiga. Maybe thinking about adding rewards to spice things up, gotta think about it.
Both canon characters and ocs would be allowed ! Any games as well so could be Urbosa, oc x canon, oc, Ganondorf ect... you'd be free as long as Gerudo/Yiga themed. Honestly in the spirit of artfight would be fun to have an actual Gerudo vs Yiga art war)
If we go with the Gerudo vs Yiga then I'll probably host that with the help of discord and google docs. Either prompt only so you choose Gerudo or Yiga and score points for your team by drawing
Or like Artfight where you'll upload your characters and attacks other Gerudo/yiga ocs to gain point for your team !
So many possibilities I can't wait !
Interest in a Gerudo/Yiga prompt event ?
Yeah ! Gerudo + Yiga (no team)
Yeah ! Gerudo vs Yiga (Two teams, just prompts)
Yeah ! Gerudo vs Yiga (Two teams and like Artfight you can "attack" people)
No sorry !

âI donât understand,â he says, and his arms are wrapped around himself now, as if he is cold. They are in Hebra, yes, but he canât help but feel as if the cold has nothing to do with how he is beginning to shiver. âWhat do you mean you donât understand?â Revali demands, turning back to him, his glare even deeper on his face than before. âIâve expressed myself clearly to you many times before - it is no fault of mine that you see yourself as better than I simply because of the sword on your back. Surely you cannot blame me for cutting my losses here - Iâve wasted enough time on you as it is.â âI-I donât understand,â Link repeats, because for once, he truly doesnât know how it was that he didnât please this individual. He thought he understood, before, but Revali has grown more and more upset, and Link simply does not understand what he has done wrong to cause this. He wants to fix this. It is the first time in his life he can ever truly remember wanting something. It is as his vision begins to blur (he doesn't know why) that Revaliâs expression shifts. âOh,â the Rito says, and suddenly, his face is no longer stuck in a glare, but in horror, and a deep, deep sadness in his eyes. âOh, no.â
I help most of Gerudos with their problems. But the rift's still getting worse. Time to head inside the rift and enter another dungeon.

Seera is the all-women psychedelic rock band in Saudi that we never knew we needed. The band is an eclectic mix of womenâNora is lead on vocals, grounded by Meeshâs funk-driven basslines, electrified by Hayaâs guitar shredding, and complemented by enigmatic, masked âThingâ on the drums. An uncharted fusion of Arab heritage and modern psychedelia, sung in Saudi dialect and underpinned by influences like Tame Impala, Opeth, Ilham Al-Madfai, and Tool. Dazed MENA speaks with the luminous band reflecting newfound freedoms for women in Saudi.Â
Seeraâs origin story reads almost like a cosmic accident. Haya, a guitarist freshly returned from Londonâs underground music scene, bonded with Meesh over a shared love of Altın GĂŒnâs experimental sounds. Meesh brought along her sister Nora, a classically trained pianist turned keyboardist (and naturally ethereal vocalist), and their chemistry was instantaneous. They soon recruited Thing, whose decade-long drumming experience brought the band to realisation in April of 2023.
âMusic has always been a passion of ours and the underground music community was what motivated us and supported us when we first started playing,â the band tells Dazed MENA. âWe used to watch bands like Guns Nâ Roses, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, and The Doors play music on MTV and BH1 and always wondered if weâd ever be a part of a band, play live, and be great musicians. Now itâs becoming a reality for us!â
It wasnât long before they began to draw in unprecedented crowds at venues in Riyadh. âOur debut gig in May 2023 was a really life-defining moment,â the band shares with Dazed. âA lot of people were present and engaged with us emotionally even though we never really had any music out at the time. We were overwhelmed by the support from our local community and that provided the drive to continue to do more shows and write more music.â
The bandâs presence is especially crucial as it managed to burgeon in Saudiâs socially conservative society, with Seeraâs journey mirroring the countryâs evolving attitudes, inspired by reforms under King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salmanâit was only in 2019 that a royal decree permitted music to be played in restaurants. âWe want to show that the drums, guitar, bass, and keys arenât confined by gender,â the band explains.Â
The word âSeeraâ itself means âstoryâ or âjourneyâ in Arabic, embodying their name and their mission: to narrate lifeâs struggles, triumphs, and absurdities with authenticity and grace. âSeera is, in and of itself, a resounding imperative for us to be role models for girls, women, and the younger generation, inspiring them to pick up an instrument and share their stories with us,â the band affirms. âWe are passionate in our mission to convey stories that encapsulate the collective experiences of many. Here, darkness meets light, vulnerability is strength, and sorrow turns to serenity.â
In their song Wahm Al Qimmah, Nora sings: âwe roll the boulder, climbing up and running down / in the struggle, thereâs a story waiting to be toldâ. The music itself is enchantingâArabic poetry in the vessel of nostalgic rock. âWe are proud to celebrate our Arab heritage through music,â Seera conveys. âItâs part of who we are, and we aim to showcase its richness and cultural depth in a contemporary, psychedelic rock context. Through our music, we hope to convey the unique style and people that Arab culture embodies.â
Working with three-time Grammy winning engineer and producer Marc Urselli, who helped mix and master a recent single of theirs, the band is set to put female-led Saudi rock on the map. âBy embracing alternative genres often seen as unconventional in our area, we are blending global music influences with a distinct regional touch, making these sounds relevant to local audiences,â Seera tells us. âThis creates a new space in MENAâs music scene, one where local themes, dialects, and cultural references find expression within globally-inspired sounds.â
The bandâs creative work is propelled by a drive to provoke thought and inspire positive change. âThe way we integrate mental health awareness, life experiences, and non-traditional sounds shows a deep interest in meaningful storytelling and connecting with others,â the band highlights. âWe find inspiration in observing human nature, acknowledging both its darker sides and its potential for growthâa reflection that aligns with our emphasis on honesty, trust, and resilience.â
An imminent catalyst for Saudi women to embrace their unconventional interests, Seera is already making waves. In the struggle, as theyâve illustrated, thereâs always a story waiting to be told. âWe hope to see the South West Asia and North Africa creative scene evolve through greater self-expression, fearless storytelling, and stronger support for local talent,â the band highlights. The band is set to drop their debut studio album in the year to come.
Welp, looks like everything is falling apart for poor Seera and baby Nathan.
Weâve got a classic Thunderdome gladiator battle involving Archangel in this comic. This story isnât horrible, I think Iâm enjoying it more than the similarly paced New Mutants Asgardian story that came just before this, but seriously how tropey is this scene. How many times have we seen the hero of a story stranded in a strange land, forced to do battle with one of the natives for the pleasure of a blood thirsty audience. This dates back all the way to the year 180 AD when Russel Crowe was doing it. And guess what. The hero wins and then spares the life of his opponent. When you get old, all these stories start blending together. (X-Factor #45 â Oct 1989)
