If you havenât been to Ellora Caves, go now! Over tourism is killing the place. Both Ajanta and Ellora have captivated me since childhood. The mysteriously cut Kailasa temple and the Buddhist caves that follow are both architecturally and aesthetically superior to most cave temples in India. I had a wonderful time hiking up there a few years back. My guide sang out an ancient tune when we were in this cave to demonstrate the sharp acoustics that deck this hall. It gave me goosebumps! Imagine what it would sound like to have about a hundred monks chanting in here! . . . @ajanta_elloracaves @maharashtratourismofficial #indiapictures #indiantourism #maharastratourism #aurangabad #ajantacaves #elloracaves #ancientarchitecture #archilovers #indianhistory #sacredsites #historictemples #secrettemples #indiantemples #sanatanadharma #buddhisttemple #travelgram #traveller #travelling #instatravel #igtraveler #igtravelworld #besttravelpics #aroundtheworld #preanka #globetrotter (at Ellora Caves - Unesco World Heritage Site) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cl_hcfJNPuC/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Ajmer Jain temple, also known as Soniji Ki Nasiyan, is an architecturally rich Jain temple. It was built in the late nineteenth century. The main chamber, known as the Swarna Nagari "City of Gold", has several gold-plated wooden figures, depicting several figures in the Jain religion. This golden chamber of the temple uses 1000 kg of gold to carve out a depiction of Ayodhya. "Ajmer's main attraction is - for the Jainas - the prominently situated Nasiayan Digambara Temple, or rather the two-storied Svarana Nagara Hall behind the temple, better known as the Museum. Both the temple and the museum were built and are still owned by the Soni family of Ajmer. The temple, dedicated to Rishabha or Adinatha in 1865, was constructed of red sandstone in a matter of a few years, but it took twenty-five years, from 1870 to 1895, to fashion - by artisans at Jaipur - the thousands of individual parts required to assemble a three-dimensional replica of the story of Rishabha in accordance with an old manuscript by Acharya Jinasena. #swiggywala #localguides @googlemaps #secrettemples#losttemples_276 #findingtemples #indiancontant #coi #woi #tours #todayful #rajasthan_blog_93  #thegenuinerajasthan #ajmerjaintemple #theglobewanderer #templesofindia #sonijikinasiyan #Jain #Jainism #DigambarJain #Ayodhya #Heritage #Historic #Ajmer #Rajasthan #India #Wanderer #Wanderlust #Travel #TravelDiaries https://www.instagram.com/p/CcpEYFPvccK/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Bhadurgad / Dharmaveergad Situated 100km east of Pune, Bhadurgad consists of a small collection of temples (circa 13th century) located on the banks of the river Bhima, and a much ruined fort and palace complex immediately next to the temples. Shri Laxmi Narayan temple is the best preserved of the Hemadpanti temples on the site. The carvings outside the temple are quite exceptional, but for me the highlight were the carved windows, in all manners of shapes which created a very special feel once inside the temple. Immediately next to the Shri Laxmi Narayan temple is the Shri Baleshwar Temple, not in such a good state of preservation but still worth exploring. There is hardly anything left of the old fort now, except for a few ruined structures that for the most part stand in isolation from one another. The fort is famous for two events : 1) When the warrior king Shivaji heard news of the arrival of the two hundred trained Arabian stallions at Bhadurgad, he deliberately leaked the news that he was planning to attack Bhadurgad. Intially 2,000 men attacked the fort and then retreated with Bahadur Khan in hot pursuit with his army. Luring the Mughals 20km away from the fort, the Marathas then dispersed into the landscape. Meanwhile, the remaining 6,000 Maratha contingent attacked the fort, taking away all the gold and horses. 2) Later after death of Shivaji in 1689, Sambhaji Raje was captured at Sangameshwar and was brought to Bhadurgad as a prisoner. Here he was subjected to a horrific torture and eventual death when he refused to be converted to Islam. The account of what they did to him is beyond comprehension, details of which are available on Wikipedia and countless other places no doubt. Bhadurgad has been renamed as Dharmaveergad in the memory of Sambhaji Raje. #swiggywala #localguides @googlemaps #Bhadurgad #Dharmaveergad #SecretTemples #MaharashtraTourism #Maharashtra_Desha #insta_maharashtra #maharashtraunlimited #Sahyadri_ig #templesofmaharashtra #ancienttemple #incredibleindia #travelindia #shivaji https://www.instagram.com/p/CckZ0EyPFn6/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
The Shatrughaneshwar group of temples are a trio of 6th century temples built during the Sailodbhava rule, consisting of Shatrughaneshwar, Bharateshwar, and Lakshmaneshwar temples. They are located immediately opposite Rameshwar temple in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Recently reconstructed by the ASI and now benefiting from nighttime illumination, they were built in the Kalinga style of architecture and are probably the earliest temples still standing in the city. Architecturally all three temples are very similar; west-facing, with a square shrine room and a tiered Shikhara above, and the absence of any mandap in front. Odisha has been connected to various events from the Ramayana period, and temple names in this group reflect heroes from the epic. Together with the neighbouring Rameshwar temple, the four main heroes of Ramayana are reflected here. The Shatrughaneshwar temple is the best preserved of the group and has the most intact carvings which are exquisite. The miniscule size of some of the carving detail is staggering. The presiding deity within the is a Shiva linga, situated within a circular yonipitha. Situated in the middle of the group, the Bharateshwar temple is also adorned with exterior carvings, but to a far lesser extent. The presiding deity here is also a Shiva linga, situated within a circular yonipitha. Located at the northern extent of the complex, Lakshmaneshwar temple is the least decorative of the group, and the most restored. A cursory inspection would suggest that this temple has been reconstructed from the top of the entranceway upwards. The majority of intricate carvings exist around the entrance to the temple. which is in a T-shape design, reminiscent of Gupta period temples. An inscription on the lintel of this temple has given a near concrete date for the construction of all three temples in the Shatrughaneshwar group. Unsurprisingly, the presiding deity in the Lakshmaneshwar temple is also a Shiva linga. #swiggywala #localguides @googlemaps #IncredibleIndia #bhubaneshwar #SecretTemples #odishatourism #india_undiscovered #thegenuineindia #lost_heritage #IndianContents #templesofindia #Shatrughaneshwar https://www.instagram.com/p/CcQDydrvqIF/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
