Yknow I just had a thought regarding Dusknoir's plan in SE5
So like, yeah, he was gonna try to possess Grovyle and then wear him as a skin puppet as a disguise for when he meets Hero and Partner again
So let's say he actually succeeds and fully takes control of Grovyle's body
Then what?
Hero and Partner are already up on their way to Temporal Tower at that point, they're already making their way through the dungeon. It's not like he's saving it for after they succeed. He already knows that if Hero and Partner put the Time Gears back, they'll all disappear. Like, if he succeeds, he'll just disappear while he's controlling Grovyle's body anyway, it's not like he'll be made an exception to this.
Yeah, at the end of SE5 they get to live and everything is fine, but I feel like Arceus wouldn't have been so merciful if Dusknoir had succeeded. Like he saw all their efforts and through whatever use of his power, allowed them to stay. But IDK I feel like that wouldn't be the case if Dusknoir actually won.
Unless he's operating under the assumption that Hero and Partner will fail, but Temporal Tower is collapsing as they're traveling through it. It's almost about to fall apart completely by the time they beat Primal Dialga, so even if they did fail, they'd probably die in the collapse of the tower regardless, so even if Dusknoir won in the end, his plan to take over Grovyle's body would've basically amounted to nothing. He may as well have killed Grovyle straight up, unless you wanna say 'he was just saying that to make Grovyle's last moments miserable" but idk he seemed pretty dead set on being convinced his plan was gonna work.
But if everyone in the future *did* get to continue living if Arceus decided to, Dusknoir only gets to go through with half of his plan anyway? Like Hero is gone at that point, partner is left struggling trying to keep going without them, as strong as they try to be and keep carrying on. Dusknoir doesn't know that Hero is going to come back, so if he just kills partner and goes back, then he won't know that hero was brought back by Dialga, and if Dialga can just bring Hero back then he could also bring Partner back too so Hero doesn't have to be miserable-
