From “Talar du svenska? Schwedish ist gar nicht so schwer!”
My loose translation:
“Of course you can visit Sweden if you don’t speak Swedish. Most Swedes speak very good English, and some also speak German.”
My brain’s translation:
“Don’t worry, German-speaking person reading this article in German. If you want to visit Sweden and don’t speak Swedish, no problem! Most Swedes speak very good English, and you, German-speaking reader, also obviously speak good English. And if you perchance encounter a Swede who doesn’t speak English, there’s still a fair chance that you can find one who speaks German.”
Implications/assumptions made by this article:
Germans: able to speak German and English
Swedes: able to speak Swedish, English, and maybe some German
Living in an environment where monolingualism is the norm, I’m jealous.
