math class gothic
You have done this math problem at least eight times. It does not matter. Each time, you have to reteach yourself all math, even addition, and you still make a mistake. By the time you have finished studying for the test, you will know less math than you did a week ago.Â
The more you walk, the further the end of the hallway appears.
You wonder how long you've been walking.
It can't have been more than 15 minutes......right?
high school graduation gothic
You are in the assembly hall, before the graduation ceremony. Theâre is nobody there. You remember you were supposed to get here with your parents, but the last thing you can remember is going out of the classroom where you had your final class. You still have your pen in hand, but youâre dressed up, and you know its graduation day. Youâre hungry.
You feel like youâve been here for ages. Suddenly people appear, but you donât see your classmates. You can't recognize any of the parents. All of the faces look blurry to you.Â
You sit down and blink. Youâre up on the stage, getting your high school diploma. People clap, parents take photos, headmaster shakes your hand, you hear cars outside of the assembly hall. You blink, next thing you're back in your seat.
It's stuffy and warm. People are talking, it's getting louder and hotter. You're sweating. You look around. Nobody else is. Everybody has a blank face. They donât stop clapping.
You want to get up and leave, but you canât. You feel heavy. The graduation ceremony has started in the morning, you look out of the window. Its getting dark. You start to fall asleep. Next thing you know, its everyone clapping at the headmasterâs final speech, getting up and leaving. you look out of the window. Itâs early afternoon.Â
You leave the hall. The janitor waves your hand at you. You never seen his face, he was always either turned back or bent over something; He smiles and his eyes shine. Theyâre yellow. You gulp and walk away but you turn around at the last moment. Heâs still there, and he still smiles and waves. You hurry.Â
You try to find your friends and family. Finally, you see your father. He hugs you and whispers âyouâre no longer in high schoolâ. You can't move. He lets go off you and walks away. You canât move.Â
You feel untethered and unsupervised. You tell yourself youâre free, but thereâs something wrong. The moment you step out of the building you start to notice things you think havenât been there before. The things notice you back. The shadow in the chemistry classroom window. The twisted weeds growing out of on the pavement. The cats and homeless suddenly start paying attention to you. Shadows seem darker. The grass seems to hear your footsteps.Â
You get to your house. Thereâs nobody inside. Itâs cold. Thereâs dust everywhere like nothingâs been touched for months.Â
The feeling of checking time on various devices rated
On a digital watch: easy, quick, little to no effort, time is told to you and you easily understand it, 10/10
On a clock face watch: why do you have this? was it a gift? precious family heirloom? a deceased party's? if you don't think about it then it is easy but the second you think while trying to read the time you cannot comprehend anything, 2/10
On a microwave: a mistake, a late night mistake to glance at the microwave clock, why would you do this to yourself? 3/10
On an oven: either you're waiting impatiently for something or you checked in the middle of the night getting a glass of water, either way you are filled with dread, 1/10
On a phone: fast, simple, easy, maybe too easy, may have to check again in a second because you already forgot, 8/10
On a tablet: same as the phone but maybe a little slower, 7/10
On a laptop: time does not exist here yet it does all the same 6/10
On a desktop: dreadfully slow or incredibly fast and no in-between, would like to get off this ride, 5/10
On a non-digital wall clock: incredibly slow, you are in public and have been waiting for the clock had to move for three hours but it has only seemed to move backwards, -2/10
On a digital clock: too fast for comfort, was it not just two hours ago? you could've sworn it had only been two minutes, 0/10
Asking someone else to tell you: the dreadful regret of forcing yourself to be known in this mortal realm, slow, always seems wrong even though no one ever lies, 2/10
On a sundial: reliable except when not sunny, hard to access, 3/10
Looking at the sun: maybe noon-ish? your eyes are burning, it's cloudy the next day, you cannot see the sun, too unreliable, 0/10
Through feeling: sometimes you just know, there are people who know all the time, do not trust those people, they are not human, -5/10
Who checks the time?: are you supposed to be here? you best leave before they notice. -/10

The forest inside the J building is bursting out the windows. Can someone please tell the janitors? I'm busy trying to get the herd of poison dart frogs back into J-6.
I am wandering the empty halls between classes, the only sounds are my footsteps and screaming children. Is the other person I saw really there?
I am approaching the jazz band room. I know this from the monotonous metronome that fills the halls around it. There is no one in the jazz room, but the air conditioner is still angry. It does not like to be bothered.
Somewhere, a drum lesson is happening. There is no one here. I sit at the piano. It is not my piano. It looks like my piano and it sounds like my piano, but it is not my piano.
âDo you have your music?â The teacher is not here. I still look through my bag. I do have my music, I say. I do not have my music. The music is not here.
the girl that you sit next to in math class is nice. she has red hair and laughs a lot. she knows a lot of people. you do not know a lot of people. you two get along well, but you dont talk outside of class. she said you should dye your hair green. why green?
the teacher talks a lot in that class, but you never really know what heâs saying. you donât know what that class is supposed to be about, but you do know that the kid in the back corner has been crying every day for the past three months. maybe you should ask whatâs wrong. better not. this is still math class, right?
