Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Taken on 25/10/2020. Scheggino is a triangular-shaped hillside village, crowned by a fortress tower. The high and mighty tower (see the last photo of this set) highlights the strategic function of Scheggino, guarding over a necessary passageway on the ancient Valnerina road linking Terni and Spoleto through the mountains. Given its location, this Umbrian village is prone to pretty cold weather—a blessing during the scorching summer months, though with a cold bite in the air in winter. These photos were taken in autumn and I can tell you it was much colder than I was expecting. Perhaps that was why Scheggino wasn't crowded with tourists who preferred to explore the man-made Marmore Falls—which are stunning, by the way! There are several other hill-top towns and villages to discover in the Valnerina area: Vallo di Nera to the northeast and Arrone to the southwest, for example.
