When I was fifteen, I went to Paris for the first time. That changed everything. I admit: at first, Paris didn’t wow me. I expected a completely different world, not just a different city within the world. But the nuances, the subtleties of how different Paris was from Winnipeg, that I discovered as I walked the streets with a crepe in hand, quickly thrilled me. When I climbed the steps up to Sacré-Cœur cathedral, I left my heart at the top, and when I went home again, I was determined to go back for it as soon as I possibly could. Fifteen. It’s not really considered an important age, but for me it was pivotal. My friends were settling into more serious relationships and saying things like, “Of course, I’ve always thought I’d be a mom someday.” And I was listening, but the words didn’t make sense to me. I gave no thought to a future wedding, and the prospect of a family held no appeal for me. I thought I would be a novelist, and a traveller, maybe a translator to pay the bills, if it came down to that. My mind and my heart were already elsewhere, because the life I wanted to live was elsewhere ❤️ To be continued… #wanderlusttribe #neverstoptravelling #parisiennestyle (at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch2CJymLcem/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
