The premise: Carver's templar drinking buddies at the Hanged Man talk about the annual wife-carrying competition, where the prize is glory and your partner's weight in ale. He thinks nothing of it for a few daysβand perhaps even thinks it's ridiculousβuntil he visits his mother at the estate and sees his brother training and lifting in preparation for the race, saying he's going to win by carrying Anders. Carver says "he's not your wife," and Hawke retorts with "if you read the rules, your 'wife' doesn't actually have to be your wife."
And in true chip-on-your-shoulder brotherly competition, Carver now has to enter the race, but he needs a partner... someone preferably light, and not a complete stranger... HmMmMmMmmMmmmmm
