The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy is a queer, creative, horny, hilarious, unique, and wonderful show; and the things it has to say about disability, stigmatized mental illnesses, and people with no empathy are delivered with enormous thought, care, delightful absurdity, and kindness.
Every single episode makes me laugh, but S2 E7 made me cry no less than 5 times because it was Just. So. Goddamn. Beautiful. Especially since I am a person with a permanent disability, with a life partner who also has a permanent disability.
So many stories attempt to do what this show does, and 99% of them fail in their attempts to make any kind of coherent, non-horrible statement. To have made something so beautiful with such difficult subject matter is an inspiration. An extraordinary success. Idk why more people aren't talking about this show!
Empathy is not required for kindness. People with severe mental illness deserve love and care. Autistic romance is like a beautiful growing garden. Platonic friendship can change the galaxy. And sometimes a handsome himbo who stocks vending machines forms a beautiful friendship with a sapient space whale who is also an ambulance!
Also, it's a great show if you're a monsterfucker. π₯°
I really hope it gets renewed for a season 3!
