ohh i love this so much!! ive lately been veryvery into squibs and a squib pandora rosier is <3 not only does she cause problems in the house, is a reason for shame to the rosiers, require special medical attention, but she can't even do the bare minimum required by her family: produce a pureblood heir. her running away w the hopes of starting a new life in the muggle world & ending up homeless because there's no empathy for an undocumented, disabled teen girl anywhere... trying to put herself in school, sell the little gold she got from the her family, get a job, etc. while trying to navigate through a world she's never known. finding some sort of solace and companionship in the church and the girl that volunteers there four days a week. mary, mary macdonald. sdfghjkjhg.
pandora definitely falls first, and harder. her house taught her it was wrong but she's long learnt to tune out what they said. the church said it was wrong, too, but she's learnt to hide who she is. mary figuring out how she loves pandora omfgg what's initially pity and care she eventually tries to justify with sisterhood but there's something romantic about how pandora only really talks to mary and how mary's heart is only at peace when it's next to pandora's. rip mary macdonald there's no universe where you aren't riddled with catholic guilt.
and omg the magic muggle part is so good because like. pandora spills it all out right like she's breaking down maybe in school maybe behind the church and she tells mary everything, the magic the madness the mix. and mary's found love and hope and friends in magic. mary telling pandora she's magic. pandora telling mary she'd known from her touch. pandora's resentment. mary's guilt. the warrr,, pandora begging mary to not participate. pandora being there when mary obliviates herself. pandora feeling some sort of glee when mary no longer does magic. yeah ill unwell about this.
