out of everyone the "freak" woman of color dies after being abused her whole life and used as a plot device, the "freak" girl is forced into either death or a life of conformity and hiding, disabled girl recovers from her disability and becomes "normal" again, repressed boy's homosexual love is stamped into the ground and nothingburgered so he can be "normal", henry is brutally murdered despite the fact that he was just another "freak" kid who deserved some sort of redemption, mike wheeler never recovers or becomes "normal" and unhappily spends the rest of his life in mourning, abused boy (henry) never gets any sort of closure or redemption and he (a freak) is still blamed for events he had no control over, sapphic relationship gets no screen time or closure whatsoever, and the two "normal" heterosexual couples get their happy ending.
