Gusto - "Disco Revenge (2001 Tamperer Club Mix)" Disco Kandi (Limited Edition Sampler Vol. 1) 2001 House / Nu Disco
Silk-funky, disco-infused, bum-bum-bum-bouncy house groove here from the early 2000s that samples drummer Harvey Mason’s moderate dance hit, “Groovin’ You,” from ‘79. Original mid-90s version is by New Jersey’s Gusto, but this remix was done by Italian duo The Tamperer, who some folks might also remember as the group behind a pretty big and silly late 90s dance hit called “Feel It” (does the line 'WHAT'S she gonna look like with a chimney on her??' ring any bells for anyone? 😅) that sampled The Jacksons’ own “Can You Feel It,” and featured a vocalist named Maya, who is not to be confused with R&B star Mýa.
Hard to find this remix anywhere besides on a couple different comps from the UK-based Hed Kandi label’s Disco Kandi 3 and the vinyl-only Disco Kandi (Limited Edition Sampler Vol. 1), both of which were issued in 2001. Nice, catchy track, sounding like it was made for a swanky French nightclub or something. Fantastique 🤌.
