They carry around so much fucking disease in an already awful wastes... and that was there. Here they're just annoying? They still kill people too.

Like, something not being edible, or stuff y'all didn't know existed

Jared: Oh all the fucking time. Tiptup digs through the trash like a heathen, a wild animal. There could be perfectly good left overs in the fridge and he'll dig in the trash for a half eaten apple or something. He also eats raw meat.

I try cooking for... at least some of these guys.

Becquerel: Well... not a whole lot, actually. Well, not compared to here.

There wasn't much of a variety of things- not a lot of food survived nuclear fallout some decade and a half ago, but, let alone what had a long shelf life.

Becquerel: I mostly ate canned food- we'd find rations of it, anywhere from the ruins of houses and buildings to people selling their own surplus. But well, there's only so many rations... things all happened when I was really little, so the whole rationing food thing has been going on awhile and... well I think people were running out. That lead to people having to find other sources of food.

We would hunt food, sometimes, but that was dicey. Animals don't know much about radiation poisoning and will run and travel through very irradiated zones all the time, so they themselves become irradiated so any meat you'd get could be dangerous. It was really hard to tell if food was or wasn't but... well sometimes we'd have to take risks. Tubbo and his crew they.... well they found food alright, although I've been advised by Ishmael not to talk about the subject. It's touchy.

Becquerel: Thankfully, Puck and Ranboo actually figured out something with growing seeds... you see, you can't grow them on top soil. Even if they actually grew, the roots soak in radiation and you could get seriously sick eating them. They'd dug a bunch of ditches and started growing things... potatoes, carrots, wheat- and they'd put up these metal barriers, they actually started growing and, well, it seemed pretty safe to eat.

After this, I'd actually told Tommy to start keeping hold of any cans of food he found, and hiding them. Just in case it came a time where they had nothing, in case the food stopped growing. It wasn't long before I uh... well, you know. Tommy found this goat... she was a lovely creature- and I'd figured out how to get goat's milk. It was a member from the dome that taught me a way to process it, it takes all the irradiation away, and then you could make stuff with it.

Becquerel: Food here is... in surplus and frankly it scares me sometimes how people just... waste such good food. It upsets me, really. There's so much and it's so good but... it's sad, really. If I could bring even a fraction of what I've eaten here back home I'm sure they'd be happy for months and months and months.

Bec : Like oranges and lemons and stuff? Yeah! It's great. I never really had it before here, but I really like it. So does Soot. One time he tried to eat an orange like an apple, before Teufor made him spit it out.

Bec : Honestly I like a lot of those weirder fruits. Sometimes Ishmael lets me put them on pizza or in my macaroni. Some of the others get really huffy about that thing though.
