A note on Mack's C: there's 0.5% chance he keeps that thing, and he knows it, and Sid knows it, and the whole team and coaches know it. It's not even a hierarchy thing as much as — when the legend you grew up seeing as Captain Canada (or the guy who played next to you as Captain for year after year on this team) is right There— are you gonna instinctively look to [checks notes] a terrifying toddler for Captainly support and wisdom? No matter how good Mack is, the answer is no. And honestly, him keeping it would put him in kind of a weird spot— he would have pressure to earn it even more than before, prove he's worth it more than Sid, all while Sid is right there. It's a bad energy for his first foray into the role and I'd prefer he avoided it.
