The poisoning takes shape differently for everyone. It slowly replaces you, taking over your body till you are a part of the machine. Before redstone was known to be a toxin, it was used in all sorts of household items. Fortunately, it's not toxic if you don't come in direct contact with the dust. Which is only fortunate for those who don't...
There are preventative measures that can be taken. Avoiding contact with the dust directly by making sure skin is covered by gloves. Goggles can prevent any getting into the eyes, and a mask prevents it from invading the respiratory system. As well as drinking more water and washing yourself off after contact. There's been PSAs over the dangers over time, but they came too late for those who discovered those dangers to begin with.
The first symptoms are often small. Blood that seems brighter than usual, or maybe glitters. Joints that feel stiff, or skin that's hard when pressed down on. Players often suffer nausea or headaches as their body attempts to fight off the poison. At this stage, it can be treated. Many of the hermits, in fact, helped pioneer these treatments. But their experience came at a cost.
Doc: when he received his cybernetics he had to go through a whole process of Redstone safety when it can access your bloodstream. Thankfully, due to the fact he's a creeper and needs very different minerals than human players, he can get away with more Redstone in his system than anyone else. It's a necessary evil, so he'll pretend those wires don't seem to be a tiny bit longer than when they were first installed...
Mumbo: Having come in contact with redstone at such a young age, Mumbo became an example of the dangers. His veins pulse red and glow an ambient light. His eyes reflect light in the dark as if he were something entirely inhuman. His skin crumbles like dust, leaving behind scrapes which glitter with the dust. He's found himself reacting to sculk sensors, and severely affected by lag, sometimes causing his movements to rubber band or repeat.
Tango: He was one of the first players to work with redstone, making watches and clocks. Similar to Mumbo, he used no protection at all. So the poisoning slowly replaced him, until he was encased in metal. It was too risky to try and remove the poison at the stage, so with Tango's consent, they chose to work with what they had. He's now adapted to work with the redstone, which Tango thinks is pretty cool. He does make sure Zed is always wearing his protection, though.
Etho: Despite Etho's history with redstone, the only thing outwardly changed is his eye. No, Etho's symptoms run deep. They're only revealed when he's injured, and doesn't bleed at all. Instead, looking into the wound will reveal the mangled wires and components, twitching and pulsing. Etho's found his connection with redstone is so strong, now, that he can sense it sometimes beneath the surface.

“Aw, thanks!” Tango teased, looking in Skizz’s general direction.
“No, seriously. I’ve never seen them like this in broad daylight before.” Skizz shifted to make eye contact, then flinched and squinted at the brightness.
Tango looked around at the landscape just barely becoming visible. “Oh, are they extra super-duper bright? Like everything else around here?”
“It’s called daylight,” Impulse laughed nearby. “You should try it sometime.”
Tango swung lightly at him, missing by a mile. “Jerk.”
“Join the caving thing,” Skizz suggested. “We’ll recalibrate you slowly, work you back up to post-Decked-Out normal!”

If tango was a robot, he was probably mass produced
It's something Tango doesn't like talking about. He doubts humans would like confronting the idea they weren't actually one of a kind, either! They don't have to, though, with their stupid genetics and organicness.
Tango is unique, though! As unique as a mass-produced robot can be. Where most of the Tango line are limited to their coding and purpose, he's expanded from it. Sure, he still likes redstone best, but he's learning to build! To create games! And he's doing it for himself, not for whoever bought him.
He also likes to think he's pretty funny, but that's neither here nor there.
It remains risky for him to leave the safety of Hermitcraft. Most people don't look past the fact he's supposed to be a stupid, thoughtless robot. They ask if he's lost, where his owner is. The worst ones have subtly tried to stealificate him! And that still doesn't compare to seeing another of the Tango robots. Their blank, smiling expressions, their stock phrases and neverending cheer.
Ugh, the thought makes him shiver.
So, Tango might be of the Tek variety. But he's also of the Hermit variety, and he's not letting anyone take that away from him!
robot tango has to do that little "are you a robot" captcha test. i dont have anything more than that on that topic but i think he would probably fail and be Very irritated about it
Fans buzzing in frustration, Tango glares at the tiny box on his communicator’s screen. [I’m Not A Robot] the text proclaims. “But I am a robot,” He whispers drawing Impulse’s attention.
“What’s up?”
Tango shows him the communicator, “I could click it, but… I don't want to lie.”
With a sound mixed between a sigh and a snort, Impulse clicks the button and grants Tango access to the website
“Thanks,” Tango shoots his friend a grin. It’s not like the robot wouldn't pass the test; he's pretty good at mimicking human arm movements. Looking back at the communicator he finishes his shopping. He needs spare parts, and you can't just craft them most of the time.
Clicking the next button, Tango’s head hits the table with a thunk.
“Another one?” Impulse grins.
“Yeah…” Tango rubs the back of his neck, “It’s a different kind… could you?”
Taking the comm, Impulse frowns at the string of squiggly letters and numbers, the psychedelic background not helping the readability of the text, “Ok, you’re in.” He passes the communicator back, having successfully deciphered the nonsensical phrase.
“You make it sound like I'm hacking them,” Tango laughs.
“I mean, you are a robot on a website made to keep bots out.”
“Yeah but those are computer bots, not RObots with bodies and free will like myself!” Tango gives himself a dramatic gesture. Impulse just shakes his head, smiling fondly.

There had been a glitch going around the server for a couple of days now only because it was a relatively minor one. Starting at 0,0, all redstone in a set chunk would be powered on for a tick before turning back off, at which point the effect would spread to the chunks immediately next to it. It didn't move extremely quickly and with how far away all the Hermits lived from 0,0, it shouldn't have been a problem. The only reason that the hermits knew about it was because Xisuma got sick for a day or so and Tango had prioritized covering a mountain in snow and ice over the routine server reset.
could robot mumbo/tango give other hermits redstone poisoning?
I would say yes. but only in cases where the chest compartment was opened and someone stuck an ungloved hand in.
The difference between using a microwave (hugging tango or mumbo) and sticking your hand inside an active microwave (sticking your hand inside an active tango or mumbo)
is tango a blaze hybrid? is tango a robot? the answer is yes. blazes are robots programmed to defend nether fortresses, so tango is a blaze which is also a robot! of course, since he is a player and has all that “free will” stuff, he is not bound to one specific nether fortress (unless, of course, you consider hermitcraft to be his home fortress)

Tango has always considered the Hermitcraft Server his home fortress. It's his to protect.
He will do anything to help the other hermits out, always creating farms or sharing resources, whatever makes things easier for them to live comfortably.
It's what the Blaze's purpose is, after all. Robotic workers for the piglens before the wither skeletons ran them out, then for the wither skeletons.
Since he has player status Tango doesn't always worry about coding taking over and forcing him to return to wandering the fortress.
But... Having a nether buddy won't hurt. Just in case.
