Shard, as the older brother can be a bit annoying, but he cares about Mex and whenever Mex needs him, he's there to help.

On the other hand Mex is mainly annoyed with Shard, but still is really happy to have him as a brother (he just rarely shows it).

Mex and Shard are a special species? of mobians called robians. They’re organic, but can transform into robots. No one, besides their close ones knows about it.

Robians were killed off, Shard and Mex are the only ones left (or are they ;))

Jules is also one too, but hasn’t told them (yet)

If someone found out, they would freak out 

Sonia and Manic know about it and are cool with it

Mex and Shard (mostly Shard) give them piggy back rides (even though their fathers don’t approve of it)

Shard has faster healing and regeneration than other mobians

I have a similar headcanon, yeah. Every single robian I've written has some form of mental illness brought on by trauma. It was a very common thing for many of them to retreat into their own minds by creating some kind of inner fantasy

I have a SatAM AU of Coconuts who was kind of like that. He'd lost his ability to completely tell what was real and what was imagined and would easily spook himself and tended to be incredibly neurotic. This was in contrast to having been a competent freedom fighter who would frequently joke about being Robotnik's "favorite" prior to his capture. He'd also developed a kind of OCD because he'd become so used to seeing his hands work independent of his mind that he would get anxious if he wasn't doing something with them

I also have a SatAM AU of Cream. She was nine but was roboticized when she was six. Because she still had such a young and developing mind when she was robo'd, she had completely forgotten how to even control her own body without her programming auto-piloting it for her. She was also Bunnie's niece and the reason Bunnie wound up partially roboticized

Even Chuck isn't without severe PTSD. Especially when you pile on the fact he was the creator of the robotocizer in the first place
