I’m told I’m good at cooking meat when I practice my skills making food for lots of people, but this is a bit confusing because I’ve been vegetarian for 9 years now and like… i cook meat dishes for others but there’s no way I’m voluntary eating meat unless its like a specific cultural learning experience or whatever… so idk why im apparently good at meat because I never test taste it or remember what it’s supposed to be like

I didn't give any update initially but I fasted 8/1 and it went really well. In the future I think I'll pair meditation and cutting back on social media to try and maximize the effects because I felt so calm and happy that day because of it.
Me and my wl partner made goals to hit before august fifteeth
160 for her
180 for me
And she's already hit her goal so I've been extra locked in to catch up, especially because 160 is my first gw.
I tried out a recipe for sweet potato brownies and other than being a bit softer than normal brownies they were totally delicious!
1 sweet potato
6 tbs of flour
2 eggs
3 tbs of cocoa powder
1 tsp of baking soda
A pinch of salt
chocolate chips
1/2 cup of maple syrup
Cooked for 30~ minutes at 350
I don't think I forgot anything, the recipe is originally from tiktok. I paired it with some cookies and cream halo top, seriously so good.
Other than the baking ingredients I also finally got some faux meat from the store! I remeber when my friend showed me the impsible sandwhich at Starbucks 🤯 mind blown, lik actully. I'd gone like 4~ months being pescatarian at that point and biting into that sandchish was other worly.
I have high hopes around the "meat" because I've never been someone who was put off by the texture of of. When I was younger I would put honey and hot sauce on raw bacon and eat it... But I would also eat sugar and butter in a bowl so don't put too much stock into that.
If you know any good vegetarian/pescatarian recipes lmk!
My skins been so clear after my fast! I'm going to fast again 8/4 so hopefully I'll be 180 by the beginning of next week.
Something that annoys me quite a bit is people’s reliance on labels, like any and all labels. I don’t mind someone wanting to put labels on themselves but when people are constantly trying to categorize and label others it’s quite annoying and it’s something I see online a ton. I think this also goes into another issue of people feeling the need to go the extreme with those labels and getting mad at others who don’t. My biggest example with this is Veganism, veganism was made to help animals and the environment yet so many vegans get mad if you don’t go to the extreme of never touching a product made by a animal (ignoring that a lot of the time this extreme actually causes more damage to the environment and wildlife but I digress). I think it’s one of the main reasons people don’t try to cut out meat because they feel like they need to either go full in or they aren’t doing anything. I have some other examples but that’s like my main one lowkey

Today I woke up and when I walked out of my bedroom I smelled something horrific. The smell of BACON wandered throughout the house. I quickly closed my bedroom door to keep at least one room bacon-smell-free. But seriously, I think that smells horrible. That might be because I have been a vegetarian for a while now. And that’s what I want to write about today.
When I was around 12 years old I got the assignment to do a presentation about a subject of choice. Naturally I decided to talk about animal welfare and the meat industry. I don’t have anything against meat-eating people btw, but I think education is necessary, so all I wanted to do with my presentation was inform my classmates about the industry. What better way to do that than with a video from a slaughterhouse. :)
Okay, I’ll admit it was quite the shocking type of footage, I believe it was leaked by an animal rights organisation. You could see broiler chickens being slaughtered, basically a lot of blood and, you know, all the things that come with the practice of slaughter, but there was also a great amount of unnecessary aggression coming from the staff, which I remember finding shocking.
Anyway, I watched the video at home as I prepared for the presentation and decided it was disgusting enough. The next day, after my yap, and at the end of the presentation, I said “I would like to show this video that illustrates what happens before you eat your chicken fillet.” Long story short, I was not allowed to proceed with the video. My teacher cut my time short and that was the end of my presentation. I remember feeling hurt, not because I got less presentation time (I could have peed my pants out of fear standing in front of the classroom, ugh) but because I felt like I had failed the chickens in my belief.
But above all it’s the ignorance of my teacher back then that frustrates me even now. You know the industry is bad, you know you can watch a video to see the truth, but instead you close the laptop and eat chicken for dinner anyway, like nothing happened. I hate it when people choose the easy way, and it’s usually the way of ignorance. And by closing that laptop that day, he taught a whole class to look away.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a saint, I still eat fish now and then and I would love to eat more vegan but it’s hard right now. But at least I educate myself and learn about the harm done not only to animals but also to the planet and humans too, because are these meats even healthy?
Btw, if you educate yourself and decide you are okay with everything happening and can still enjoy a burger without the feeling of guilt, then I lowkey respect you more than the ignorant kind of people.
Ps: I don’t have anything against cows, pigs and others used for their meat. They just don’t have a part in this story.
