i have. put my thoughts into words.
so, to summarize how i think tacet marks work (not at all medicalized, this is how i explained it to a sibling figure (THANK YOU BANDIT ILY)). its like. an access port, almost. its how the resonator accesses their forte, and accesses the frequencies of the world. that's why they're typically on display or exposed to open air. its like a sensory organ in its own right.
it's like. the tacet mark is a "harbor" for that person's forte. it's where they can feel the frequencies of the world. its where their power dwells when it's not being used. we believe that tacet marks would be touch sensitive not because of nerve endings but because they are so much more sensitive to picking up frequencies.
but they are still contact-sensitive, because, as i see it, touching a resonator's tacet mark is equivalent to pouring your frequencies directly into their senses. its unavoidable, it can be really overwhelming, and its like. very much an intimate thing, to hand that over and make a direct connection, especially when it can be so much to process.
however there's also something ,, very raw, to me, about that. it's like a live feed into their nervous system, a direct line to their brain, where they process information and sensory input. honestly it's almost like an injury, in that right. an open wound. something that never quite scabs over, a never-healing, shifting, moving scar, where instead of blood, power pours out of, leaving them susceptible to infection or hurt at the hands of someone trying to force something that shouldn't be let into the body through that metaphorical wound.
