Jongler’s Book For Jongling Information on TV Remotes - Informational Videos
Hello everyone! Have some more knowledge hoard shinies. This is the video portion on TV remotes (and remotes in general) and how they work. Also a few restoration videos
There’s all of these fics and headcanon’s about repairing Tenna since he’s a mechanical Darkner, but I don’t think a lot of people realize that Zappers are too. The insides of a remote are much more complex than I initially realized. It's fascinating to see how they work
History Of The Remote Control
Video by History Of Stuff. A brief history of the TV remote & remote control in general. Good, concise information. Has a few cool pictures of vintage & antique remote controls. 3 and a half minutes
The Evolution Of TV Remotes
Video by SpeciFix. Goes through a brief history of TV remotes and the various mediums they used to send signals to the TV. Mostly stock graphics with a voice-over. 5 and a half minutes
Vintage TV Remote Control Commercial
Video archived by Tech Nerd. Vintage commercial for one of the very first commercial available wireless TV remotes. From 1961. Looks a lot different than today's remotes. About 6 minutes
The Science Behind How A Remote Control Works
Video by The Telegraph. Short, cheery little video with 8-bit music and graphics with a voice-over. Quickly explains the basics of how a TV remote works. A little over 1 minute
How Do TV Remotes Work? - Easy Explanation
Video by Curiosity Unlocked. Thorough explanation on how modern TV remotes work. Uses detailed graphics to help illustrate points. Clear, concise, and easy to understand. 5 and a half minutes
How Batteries Work - Battery electricity working principle
Video by The Engineering Mindset. Longer and a bit more technical than the above two. In-depth look on how alkaline batteries work. Has a bit of technical jargon here and there, but does a very good job of providing definitions when it does. Uses detailed graphics and diagrams to illustrate points. Very interesting watch if you have the time. 19 minutes
TV Remote Restoration
Video by Phone Fix Craft. Very satisfying restoration video of an old TV remote. No talking, uses in-video text captions to explain what they are doing and why. ASMR quality video. 8 minutes
Cleaning and Restoring Old TV Remote Control
Video by Restore & Love. Another satisfying restoration video. No talking, however, this one plays upbeat instrumental music over all sound as well, so no satisfying cleaning noises. 9 and a half minutes
Fixing A Remote After Leaking Batteries Destroyed The Terminals
Video by Crotalus667. They explain what they are doing as they are doing it. Instead of restoring the battery terminal itself, they make a new DIY one entirely and add it to the back. It's an interesting fix. 11 minutes
(My only complaint for this one is that the guy probably should have been wearing gloves. If you ever try something similar yourself, please take the proper safety precautions. The corroded batteries were disposed of and the corrosion cleaned before the start of the video. However, they were also soldering wires together, which they probably should have had gloves for)
Cleaning Corroded Battery Terminals At Home
Video by Vincent Stevenson. Shows how to clean off battery corrosion from a TV remote using common household objects. Makes it look quick and easy. 2 minutes
(Again, this person should have been wearing gloves. Do not handle corroded batteries or corrosion residue without gloves! Leaking or corroded alkaline batteries can cause acid burns on your skin! if you absolutely have to touch it bare-handed, be sure to wash your hands thoroughly in cold water afterwards)
That's it for this one everyone! Thank you for sticking with me so far!
Enjoy!

I bought a second-hand jumper more than one second hand wooly jumper knit in fisherman's rib and a couple need some repairs (ironically, managed to spend more on the ones with the most holes) but! I have a mend!
It's on the back so boo it won't show off as much but it's so cool! I wasn't expecting it to come out so well 😁 I might do some other bits on the front.
Today, a blank charge was fired aboard Battleship TEXAS in honor of the ship's launching, which happened on this day 114 years ago. If the scuttlebutt is true, the ship's 14 inch guns will be fired again in early July as part of the America250 celebration!"

“I know how to work the pedals,” she retorted, shifting gears to pick up speed.
“You sure about that?” he asked, grabbing hard at the roof handle. “I think you got them all mixed up!”
And with that... Comes my first ever moodboard! Link to the new chapter beloww 🐳
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
(I shouldn’t have agreed to this), Rebecca thought to herself. (This was supposed to be a solo assignment!)
(Coroner meetings, statement collection, evidence reporting... I did all the tasks Chris gave me on my own. I don't need rescuing anymore, especially not after Spencer Mansion... do I?) Rebecca stole a glance at the ex-Marine then, catching the steel fasteners at the side of his collar. The studs gleamed bright against the deep emerald fabric of his jacket, looking as cool and precise as the metallic zippers that ran across the front pockets. The sharp sleeves almost made her forget about what's hidden underneath: an entire arm covered in ink.
(So much for being babysitter-free), she reflected. (He hasn’t spoken, or made any comments, but he sure makes the car feel small) Rebecca tried her darnest to focus on the road, pretending it was just another workday morning out in the lush outskirts of Raccoon City, appreciating the fresh country air, clear cloudless sky, and bright summer sun… Paying absolutely no attention to the suspiciously well-timed absurd apparition of a man sitting beside her…
.
.
.
…until she no longer could.
“Out with it,” she said. “Before you suffer from some form of mental constipation, let me hear it”
Billy snorted “No one’s constipating with you riding the clutch like that. I’m surprised the car lasted ten minutes”. He had been eyeing every little shift of her feet and tracking even the slightest jerk of the wheel.
“I know how to work the pedals,” she retorted, shifting gears to pick up speed.
“You sure about that?" he asked, grabbing hard at the roof handle. "I think you got them all mixed up!”
"I don't. Besides, we're moving just fine. See?" She changed the gear yet again, determined to go even faster.
"That's not what the car's telling me." he muttered over the lurch, making sure his complaint was loud enough for her to hear. "How about showing me that license now?"
“Woo— hoo—!” she yelled, flooring the accelerator instead. "Look at me go—!"
As they pulled up at the next stoplight, Billy spoke again. This time, his tone was not teasing anymore “Press the clutch in and slot the gear into 1st.”
“Now?"
"Yes now."
"Although it just turned red?”
“We're practicing, take the chance. Anyways, always prepare the clutch.”
Rebecca cocked her head, curious.
“If you scramble when it's green, you're already late. Clutch in"
"O- Okay"
"Lift your foot" he told her, raising one hand to demonstrate a measured climb. "Slowly, just enough for the car to ‘wake up’." He paused halfway, as if he could feel the clutch engaging
"Hang on. Wake up?"
"Like, the car gets a little tight and wants to move. It’s a tactile thing, something you'd feel. When that happens, we know you’ve found the sweet spot”
“Oh, you mean the biting point, right?”
“Call it whatever you want, it’s somewhere between rolling and staying still.”
Rebecca gave it a go, gently moving her feet the way Billy showed her. “Like this?”
“Yeah. Keep going, and try holding it right at the edge.
"Whoops!"
"Too far"
"You said to hold it at the edge"
"That was the edge. You went for the cliff."
Rebecca continued to adjust the pedals.
"Great. Do this and you’re already halfway there when the light turns. No panic. No rushing the clutch”
“Huh. I think I got it” Rebecca said, excitement surfacing. "Gotta admit, though. I do feel nervous when there are other cars waiting behind."
“You'll be fine. Keep at it so the car won’t stall or jerk when you move. Ready?”
She watched the light intently, balancing the car so it’s not fully stopped nor moving. When the green light finally came on, Rebecca pressed a little gas and slowly released the clutch in a smooth roll-off. She turned to Billy, her entire face lit up in obvious delight.
“Don’t get distracted now, eyes up front,” he told her, grinning despite himself.
