It's reading day today! . I usually do two stages of reading when I'm working on a paper. The first stage is to get a rough understanding of the research context, and find out what's already been done in that particular topic. Then I write a first rough draft and submit it to my supervisors for initial comments. This first discussion usually highlights what needs fleshing out more, which gives me an idea of what further reading I need to do. Usually it's to do with the theoretical framework, and finding out what ideas other people have had about the points that I'm discussing. So that's today's job! . I'm so happy that I decided to invest in a Remarkable reading/writing tablet. I used to always print out my articles, but at some point the pile of papers becomes too big, and without access to unlimited office printing it also gets very pricey! The Remarkable (yep that's its name) has an e-ink screen so it's a lot nicer (and better for my eyes) than reading on my computer screen. And it's also a lot nicer to write on than most other tablets, because it doesn't have a glass screen so it really feels like you're writing on paper rather than on a slippery surface. If you have enough to afford the initial investment I would highly recommend! I don't just use it for reading articles - I also make notes and to do lists and sketches, and have even downloaded sheet music on to it for my piano. . I should say that I'm not getting anything from Remarkable for this post - I just think it's a really great piece of equipment that a lot of people still don't know about so wanted to share. .
