“Mushu Marshmellows"

I realized I haven’t done anything Disney related in a moment, so I figured Id do it here for this new piece. It was really an excuse to test out these new Crayola Blending Markers. While they are not as blendable or have a large variety of colors like Bianyo or Copic, they do look nice and vibrant. You do have to do a of mixing if you want brown or skin tones. This was also the first time I’ve drawn Mushu and Crickee, and I think I did an okay job. I completely forgot Mushu has whiskers until I was almost done though. On an unrelated note, the timing probably couldn’t have been better to post this. Mainly with the new Mulan reboot that’s out. That and Eddie Murphy just recently won his very first Emmy not too long ago.

Figured I’d jump on the trend train and take a shot at redrawing the deleted scene from Tale Of Two Stan’s”started by  thatabitcryptic.

“King Of Wakanda”

“In my culture, death is not the end. It’s more of a stepping off point. You reach out with both hands and Bast and Sekhmet, they lead you into a green veld where you can run forever.” -Tchalla AKA Black Panther. To be honest, I forget if this quote is from the movies or the comics. Feel free to remind me of the source if you can. I actually did a sketch of Chadwick Boseman once over a year ago. I never posted it because I was not satisfied with how it looked. But in light of recent events, I figured now would be a good time to try again. Out of all the events that have happened this year, this is one of the ones that shocked me the most. Even you didn't like the movie or the other MCU movies, you can appreciate that this actor really enveloped himself into the role. The fact that he did the role in spite of his illness really shows to his dedication as an actor. I'll be honest, I could have done a better job on this. This was done entirely with various alcohol markers. I used Blick's brand along with an off brand I found from Five and Below. I wanted to go for a nice blended background but it didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted it. Initially I was going to go with simple base colors  and very few shadows to give it more of a comic book look, but I wanted to be a little more ambitious with the shading. Especially since I haven't touched markers in a while. Also, maybe it's just me, but I don't think I fully caught his likeness enough. I actually thought it looked more like him before I added the color. Plus getting his vibranium suit took some time to figure out as well. Most of the small details were done with white Gelly Roll pens before being colored over with red  and purple markers. Let me know how you guys like it! RIP Chadwick Boseman 1976- 2020

“(Commission): The Sorccer's Discovery”

This is one the first commissions I've done in a long time. This is of course is a dramatic moment from the famous Sorcerer's Apprentice scene in Fantasia. I wanted to heighten the drama by having Mickey Mouse actually see the sorcerer appear at the doorway. This was done with a mixture of colored pencils, ink, and white gelly roll pens. I had actually done this a while ago, but I hadn't been able to post until now. I really loved how well this turned out! The whirlpool was the most challenging part. Getting the water to look right took a long time to perfect, but I finally manged to pull it off. I found myself having to make the shadows dark to the point where many of them were pitch black in order to create that contrast I was looking for. Since I haven't drawn Mickey that often, I found myself having to redraw him a couple of times to get him to look right. Hope you all enjoy this!

"Swat Kats Sketches (in color)

Haven't done many new stuff recently, decided to get inspired by rewatching an old show.

“Rastacats”

One of the hottest reggae acts to come from deep in the Savannah. These four were originally part of an Inktober piece I made last year. so I figured it was time to revisit them again in full color. This is one the first marker based drawings I've done in a long time. I used a combination of fine-liners and alcohol based markers. Even though I normally don't use these regularly, I was very pleased with how well this turned out!. 

“Seventies Night Club”

If you don't recognize Snoops from Rescuers in this scene, you probably won't recognize the rest of the seventies era cartoons in this piece. Mainly cause their either hidden in the smoky shadows or they're just off model. Some may hear the sounds of KC and the Sunshine Band, or Bee Gees, but anytime I look at this, I hear this classic song by Slave: 

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJ9NwhUo6y0 While I like how this turned out, its not one of my best. This digital piece was an experiment for me. I've recently got inspired to do this after watching Youtube videos of artist Marco Bucci. I've really gotten addicted to his instructional videos lately, they're not only informative but funny as well. But what really catches my attention is his art style. While his work is cartoony and colorful, its very loose with painterly brushstrokes and abstractions. Most if all of his videos feature a time lapse of his entire painting process. This piece was an attempt to study his method of painting.

“Even More Random Sketches In August”

Since I still haven’t started on new piece for me to really sink myself into just yet. I figured I’d go ahead and make another collage of sketches Iv'e made in my book this week. I’ve done a lot of bust shots and gesture drawings. Most of these were done as I was listening to music. The sketch in the bottom middle might give you a hint of what I’ve been listening to lately.
