I have officially forgiven Venusaur for its crime of being a difficult raid boss because the base game doesn’t have much in the way of physical Grass-types that can reliably ignore Sludge Bomb (and it doesn’t help that I didn’t have access to a Chesnaught at the time because I failed the raid due to inadequate preparation in Violet (I tried beating a physical defender who spams Iron Defense with a physical attacker) and I didn’t even have the game yet in Scarlet)
#Venusaur#…the Unrivaled!#redemption time#the only thing I’d do better is double check what ball I’m expecting to use beforehand#rather than having to sift through my old tumblr posts once the Pokémon is defeated to see what the ball pattern was#I’m not particularly surprised the Kanto starters are all using Premier Balls#very interesting that the raid decided to appear in exactly the same spot in both versions#pokémon violet#pokémon scarlet#I actually meant to do my usual approach of doing all the raid prep before taking it on in either version#I was just so into it in Violet I took the raid on before doing the raid prep in Scarlet#Chesnaught#I love Chesnaught#pokémon#they call the Grass-type weak so why’s that the type I need the most redemption on?#of the ones I failed originally I had Venusaur Sceptile and Torterra in both versions and Chesnaught in Violet only#compared to Skeledirge in both versions for Fire and Inteleon in Violet only for Water#admittedly Blastoise and Empoleon were quite difficult. Swampert too actually#out of the two non-Grass-types I failed one is ugly and the worst Pokémon ever and the other is Inteleon#this is an Inteleon and Chesnaught appreciation zone. I was so sad I failed their raids I locked in (looked up strats online) for Delphox#admittedly that’s bc Delphox is my favourite non-Paldean starter#though technically at the time I think I preferred Cinderace#but both before and after it held that position
