Yep, I believe they are definitely the same pants!

Vans sweatpants in 01x08 have back pockets as a notable feature and so I was able to look for the pockets to determine which sweatpants Van was wearing later on in the show. Pictured above on the right are the sweatpants Van wears 02x02 that also have pockets and as you can see, the pants at that point had been cut into shorts!

I believe the wolf attack is also actively the reason for the cutoff shorts as well because the pyre burned holes in the bottoms of Van’s sweatpants as pictured in the behind the scenes photo above. My guess is that the Yellowjackets just cut off the burned section to keep the integrity of the rest of the pants so that Van could continue to wear them!

You can also see the pockets in Vans cutoff shorts in season 3 as well to show that they are still the same sweatpants!
