Fantasy is a very broad term and can almost always be divided into sub genres and even sub genres of sub genres. I’ve compiled this list because knowing the genre you’re writing in a bit more can help you better write your own book :) I plan on updating this list occasionaly as I encounter more sub genres and gather more information.
Occult Detective Fiction: Detective stories with an added supernatural element. The main lead/detective typically has supernatural powers or “beyond the normal” abilities.
Urban Fantasy: Supernatural elements occur in a city setting. May allow for an interesting combination of technology and magic.
Low Fantasy: Fantasy/magic occurs in the normal world. Instead of grand stories, it focuses on “normal” people and their stories. May be more gritty.
Paranormal: Focuses on mystery and unsettling themes. May explore the boundary between the natural world and the supernatural world.
Dark Fantasy: Combines horror and fantasy elements.
Gridmark Fantasy: Often set in a violent, dystopia-type place.
High Fantasy: Include epic quests and in-depth world building (takes place in a world separate from our own).
Epic Fantasy: Focuses on grand-scale storytelling. Similar to but not exactly high fantasy. May include low fantasy, as well.
Portal Fantasy: Characters from one world use a portal to arrive in another world.
Romantasy: Explores a romantic story in a fantasy setting. World-building may still be in-depth, but the plot mainly revolves around a relationship involving the protagonist.

Okay so, I do get invested in books really easily. I dive into their world and their reality and I live there in my daydreams and in my thoughts. I get attached to the characters and I get invested in their stories. I feel what they're feeling, I see pictures of the scenes in my mind while I read and i sometimes even mirror their gestures and mimic.
I cry (quite often) while I read and I'm happy that no one sees it. I laugh, I get angry and I often want what they have.
The books that I read create the world in my head and the world I build from those books is entirely my own. No one else is allowed to bring something to it other than me and the authors who get my imagination flowing. This is the reason why I don't want to talk about books. I like to give my opinion but I don't want to hear what anyone else is thinking because that would influence the world that I build, all by myself while reading, inside my head. And I dont want that.
