This week, the great Toomas Rein (b 1940) was announced as the laureate of this year's State Culture Prize -- a worthy honour for an architect whose career spans more than half a century and whose unique buildings have helped shape the face of many cities and even more rural settlements in Estonia. Pictured here is the Rapla Kolkhoz Construction Company HQ from 1971--77, situated not far from Tallinn. In the first photo, shot by Rein himself?, you can spot his dear friend Leonhard Lapin under the basket; the second photo is by Arvi Kriis.
