1. Rainbow zebra shirt(there is random years printed under each zebra, that are so faded you can barely read/see them)
2. Used pilgo cup that looked like it hadn’t been washed
3. Costco jigsaw to remind you of good times fighting off five rabid shoppers for the last rotisserie chicken
4. Canadian salt and pepper butt plug shaped shakers
More rainbow??
To all my medical zebras out there, especially my rainbow zebras, remember this if you ever feel hopeless;
There’s a reason zebras aren’t domesticated. They are feral and will bite/kick the shit out of just about anyone or anything. They’re considered more dangerous to zookeepers than any big cat.
Let’s channel our symbol’s energy whenever we want to give up. Be like the zebra, untamable and willing to sink your teeth in.

Fun Zebra Month Socks.
You are. Show it off proudly!
A classic and a... not so classic.
I met an empathy-based children’s book publisher the other day!
Her name is Alex Frankel Schorr, and she’s starting up a publishing company called Rainbow Zebra, which is getting ready to publish its first book, a picture book about a horse and a zebra that fall in love:
(The image is a picture of the book with text that’s included below.)
She’s a really nice person, and I offered to post about her on Tumblr and asked her to send me more info about Rainbow Zebra, and here’s what she sent along:
“Here's some more info. about Rainbow Zebra Co., as promised:
- I legally resurrected my grandmother's publishing company (Haifa Publishing Co.) that she built in Haifa, Israel, in 1959. (Fun Fact: Her first book was so successful that she was able to buy a car and a plot of land and the title was later picked up by Random House, the largest publisher in the world.)
- Our entire mission is to make this world a kinder place by cultivating the most important trait - compassion - among the most important generation - our children.
- I was inspired to create an empathy-based publishing company due to the fact that my son experienced bullying when he wore skirts and dresses to school.
- Our books (and eventually we'll have toys and games as well) all aim to instill empathy in today's young kids. Having won two research awards, I began to engage in extensive research on the topic of empathy. I conducted a global meta-analysis, exploring the previous body of work on cultivating empathy in our little ones, and aim to infuse these best practices in every product I create.
- Our first book, From Neigh to Zebra, is an allegory for gay marriage or mixed-race marriage and promotes discussions on the topics of acceptance and diversity. The book has been hailed as "developing a movement for kids and families on empathy". We've been lucky enough to receive the highest of accolades from editors, educators, child psychologists, parents and kids alike.
- Other books will cover topics that empower young girls and combat toxic masculinity among young boys, some will speak to racial equality using black bears, brown bears, and polar bears, and still others will turn those with disabilities into superheros. Our games will promote cooperation over competition and our toys will eliminate stereotypes, encouraging boys to partake in nurturing activities just as much as girls are encouraged to participate in STEM. While we are mission-driven, this will be done in a fun, silly, and whimsical way!
- Our dedication to social impact will be manifest by donating a portion of the proceeds from every book sold to a relevant charity. 10% of From Neigh to Zebra profits, for example, will go towards GLSEN, an LGBTQ+ charity that promotes safe spaces for children, of all gender expressions, in K-12 education. Other titles will allow us to donate to different charities, each one reflecting the theme of the book.
So that's our story! Let me know if you need anything else!”

You can also support the book and get freebies here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/from-neigh-to-zebra#/. I strongly encourage you check her out; the book looks adorable!
