It’s the fact that the big Judy-Nick reunion had:

A big emotional reunion hug

A tantalisingly brief moment where they pulled back and looked into each others eyes where a kiss ABSOLUTELY would have fit

Both Nick and Judy have these long drawn out confessions about “you’re the most important person in my life” and “you matter the most to me” and “I don’t want to lose you” and “you’re the only one that truly believes in me”

BUT EVERY TIME THEY SEEM LIKE THEY’RE KEYING UP FOR AN “….and I love you” THEY FUCKING SWERVE AND SAY SOME OTHER THING EVEN THO THEY COULDVE PUT IT IN THERE AND STILL MAKE IT A FRIEND THING

But the creators knew. They knew the tension of that scene was too close to a romantic confession and they had already swerved hard on the kiss. So they did two things.

They made it comedic by having both Nick and Judy therapy dump all their traumas at once

They removed the “I love you” and placed in a completely innocuous and kinda ill-fitting and out of nowhere moment that was separate from all the romantic tension and then turned it into something of a joke by making him go “Love you partner and I’ll only say that once a decade”

Only for Judy to capture it on audio AND REPLAY IT MULTIPLE TIMES AT HOME WHILE SMILING ABOUT IT

I actually expected him to show up when Atsushi was mourning his headmaster? Or maybe, I don’t know, they finally sat down and talked about things, the things that are the foundation of their partnership that went from hostile to protective and loyal

- All her motivations revolving around men

- Her NEVER having any significant personable moments with other female characters, its just her shoving them all away and telling them they’re wrong for telling her to not care so much for the male lead

- All her competency and experience as Spider-Woman getting nerfed the moment she’s around Miles when he’s the one who’s less experienced than her!!

- HER BEING SO CENTERED AROUND MILES TO THE POINT WHERE HER SPIDER SENSE ALERTS HER TO MILES BEING IN DANGER?!!!??
