Diving into some old favourites! I've been doing a lot out of my old technique books and I'm finally getting back into the longer pieces. Does anyone recognize this one?
The answer is Sonata is E-flat, 1031! Did you know that the authorship of this piece has been disputed by musicologists? Robert Marshall suggests it to be by Bach, as C.P.E Bach wrote his father to be the author in the manuscript and this was supported by Bach's student. However, Jeanne Swack counters that the work bears extreme structural similarities to another piece by J. J. Quantz. Give them a listen and let me know your thoughts in the comments!
