Week 105, Day 727.
Well, it’s official, I am now a 3rd year PhD student; 104 weeks survived and counting. 🥂
Unfortunately, last week wasn’t the time for celebration... I received devastating and shocking news about my old supervisors’ sudden passing. Dr Steven Le Comber was my research project supervisor throughout my Bachelors and Masters degrees at Queen Mary, University of London. He wasn’t just my supervisor, he was my guide, inspiration, and friend. He taught me how to think independently and how to turn an idea into a wonderful creation. He taught me how to work hard, how to grow up. Most importantly, he showed me the magic of science and the beauty of Scotland (being Scottish himself); he was definitely an influence on my decision to move there one day. He was there for me when I was grieving, giving me time to heal and then pushing me to carry on once I could muster the strength to. He carried me through some very testing times in my life and celebrated my success at both of my graduations. If it wasn’t for him, I don’t know if I’d be where or who I am today. I am utterly heartbroken and will soon be attending my second funeral this year. 🖤 I am largely in denial, which is helpful, as life doesn’t stop when something tragic happens. For this reason, I am off to Scotland tomorrow (how appropriate) to collect some material samples from a bunch of service reservoirs. There is rainfall in the forecast where I live, which means it’ll be more like rain on steroids in Scotland. I am desperately hoping that this doesn’t ruin my sample collection. However, I get to go to Scotland, so I’m already winning. My back seems to be on the mend, well, it better be as I have a 5 hour drive tomorrow... 💧🌳🌲🚗🌳
Have a better week than I’ve had.

Hiya peeps,
I know, I know, I know...
It's been over a month since I last posted and I'm sorry.
So here's a much due update on me life.
Also, go follow my new French blog : @frenchfats where I will document my French learning experience. I already studied French for about 5 years as part of the school curriculum but I kinda forgot it over the last 2 years. Thus, je réapprendrai le français. Wish me luck, lmao.
As some of you may know...I'm a dyslexic student. One of the consequences of being dyslexic is that I get anxiety over reading long books. I find it daunting and spine chilling. But since its the new year (or rather February), I am challenging my dyslexic ass to read the famous Harry Potter series. I have watched each movie religiously growing up (and still do).
Yes, I'm a literature student and no, I have never read them. I know - I'm ashamed too... hence the challenge.
I vow to be more consistent this year. I promise.

So
It's been a while for anyone who is following me (sorry for leaving you in the dark there but hey)
I'm now in Year 13 and my grades are apparently good enough that I'm predicted AAB! Who knew?
So yeah, I've recently applied to unis, which are, in no particular order
1. University of Hull
2. Aberystwyth University
3. Queen Mary University of London
4. University of Kent
5. University of East Anglia
And for all of these I'm applying for English and Drama.
So far, I've had 4 offers (all conditional) from everywhere except UEA because I have to do an audition first for them (wish me luck!)
But I also have my January A level mocks over the next 2 weeks and I'm kind of panicking a bit because I am not anywhere close to being prepared for this thing and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna do just as badly in these mocks as I did in my Year 12 ones, where I got a B, a C, and a D (but hopefully I've improved so they'll be at least a bit higher!)
