The reason pyromancers carry hand axes is due to their environment and self sustainability.
Wisdom Rossart, Hand of the King
"Queer that they never asked who killed Rossart...but of course, he was no one, lowborn, Hand for a fortnight, just another mad fancy of the Mad King. "
- a startling degree of class consciousness from Jaime there, good on you J-dog!
These minis are designed as a unit of generic pyromancers for the game, but I like to paint individual characters wherever possible. This guy leapt out at me as Rossart, because I feel like whatever weird burning people alive fetish he had would definitely also manifest as having a tonsure.
More of the green wildfire lighting here, and again I'm incredibly pleased with how it came out. My one regret is not realising until just now Rossart had a pretty cool sigil - the backs of these minis are a bit featureless, and that would be a cool canvas for some freehand.
A Clash of Kings - Wildfire
He did not know whether he ought to be delighted or terrified. Perhaps a smidge of both. "I trust that your guild brothers are not engaging in any unseemly haste, Wisdom. We do not want ten thousand jars of defective wildfire, nor even one . . . and we most certainly do not want any mishaps.”
A Clash of Kings - Chapter 17 - Tyrion
Tyrion's inspection of the Pyromancer's stock of wildfire once again brings me back to my ongoing problem with Mr. Martin's descriptions. All he tells us is it's cold, damp, and dark. How is the "fruit" stored? I don't know!
Now, I don't expect a painting of words, a la Mervyn Peake, making the books twice as thick as they already are, but is it asking to have a bit more to work with?
On the plus side, whenever these gaps occur, I can draw whatever I want.
The Pyromancers of House Lannister.
“Once it takes fire, the substance will burn fiercely until it is no more. More, it will seep into cloth, wood, leather, even steel, so they take fire as well” - Wisdom Hallyne
Finished up these boys in more time than I cared to, but I’m glad that they’ve all been squared away. I am not a fan of these models, they are so flat and boring and have very little life to their poses. The idea of an entire unit of chemists taking to the field is a bit ridiculous, and they don’t seem dressed for battle or the handling of dangerous chemical weapons. Kind of would make more sense as a unit attachment, to force panic tests or create obstacles.
I hear these guys can be pretty devastating on the tabletop, so maybe they’ll redeem themselves there.

Any thoughts on when the Guild of Alchemists set up shop on Visenya's Hill, perhaps a specific king who may have invited them? And do you think they were once based in Oldtown (given their rivalry with the maesters of the Citadel), only moving to King's Landing many centuries later, somewhat similar to how the High Septon eventually moved to the Great Sept of Baelor in the capital?
According to what we know, the Alchemist’s Guild is apparently older than the Citadel, so their rivalry may have been started when the maesters started to perform a similar service. I would imagine that the pyromancers would have had a presence in Oldtown, if for no other reason than they would want to be in an area where they could receive patronage, but they may have been based in Casterly Rock, or on the east coast if they came over from Essos.
The first time we hear about the pyromancers chronologically is Aegon IV’s dragon debacle, which would mean that they’re already established in the capital. If I had to speculate who would have permitted them to set up shop, I would guess Jaehaerys I or Maegor. Septon Barth seems the type of guy to want to have wildfire to study more about dragonlore and other magical elements of fire. Maegor doesn’t seem like a guy who would want to use wildfire, he’s either on dragonback or fighting with Blackfyre personally, but if he suspected the Citadel of disloyalty or the Citadel stopped sending maesters to Maegor because he kept murdering them, he may have looked to invite the Alchemist’s Guild to provide advice.
Thanks for the question, Anon.

How many of you would read a story about a necromancer and his quest of vengeance? It features main characters who fall into one of more of these categories:
PoC
LGBT+
Women
Handicapped
Magical
Need a rough estimate of the attention it would recieve so I know whether or not to turn this into a huge project, and if I should post it here.
What Chaos Witch Quelaag, daughter of the Witch of Izalith, would wear.
