I am a 16 year old artist and author hoping to break through the noise and get more people to see my book, Lyscar Academy.
Monsters are not always evil. And Lyscar Academy proves that. Advertised as a safe place for "monsters," Lyscar Academy helps oddities such as demons, angels, hybrids, and others to help control their abilities.
However, these "monsters" are never allowed into the real world. In fact, the academy locks every night at 10:00 P.M. preventing the students from leaving and potentially getting hurt or worse.
If you have any suggestions on the synopsis, they would all be appreciated.
Here are the first lines of the book.
Again, suggestions are welcome.
Formatting might be odd because I'm typing this on a phone.

"I can just move into the non-elemental dorm—" Phoenix Duskbane said, attempting to calm down his parents and Lyscar Academy's headmistress. "No! You must be in your own dorm! I will not allow you to be in a room with other men!" Phoenix's mother, Mrs. Duskbane, shouted, causing Phoenix to flinch. "Right..." He muttered. The headmistress, Lyra, rubbed her temples, sighing. "Look, Mr. and Mrs. Duskbane, it's almost curfew, and we cannot enroll any other students after that time. If you don't decide, you're welcome to come back tomorrow and—" "No!" Mrs. Duskbane shouted again. "We are enrolling him today! And if he has to sleep outside for that to happen—" "Maybe we could let him decide," Mr. Duskbane suggested. Mrs. Duskbane thought this over for a moment, before nodding once. "Very well. Phoenix...what would you like?" Her voice was strained, almost as if she wasn't used to asking that. Phoenix hesitated for a few moments, mouth opening and closing, unsure of what to say. Lyscar Academy had never had a multi-elemental student before. He looked at his Angel mother. Then at his Devil father. "I..." He glanced back at his mother, seeing her expression getting irritated. "I...guess I'll choose the Light Dorm." "Finally," Headmistress Lyra mumbled, then cleared her throat. "Very well. You will start classes tomorrow." Phoenix nodded once. "Thank you, ma'am." "Yes, thank you for letting our son enroll in Lyscar Academy," Mrs. Duskbane smiled thinly. Phoenix smiled as well, however it didn't reach his eyes. Headmistress Lyra handed Mr. and Mrs. Duskbane a contract, to which they hesitated for a moment, but ultimately signed it. "Perfect. He will be in the Light Dorm for the rest of the school year," Headmistress Lyra smiled professionally. "Yay..." Phoenix smiled half-heartedly.

When I actually start writing this, it will be formatted in the way a book is supposed to.
