Every now and then I remember that Malbolge exists and I get to spend the better part of an hour cry-laughing at the world’s worst programming language
already starting off strong, but it gets worse
Wow! Sounds easy and intuitive to use! What’s the “crazy operation” you ask? We’ll get to that later. For now let’s see what a program in this language looks like :)
Thanks! I hate it!
it’s so difficult to work with that the first program was written by another brute force search program
mmmmm delicious base-3 arithmetic, what could go wrong? (For reference, that means this program forgoes the usual “0/1″ values of binary code in favor of a much more fun “0/1/2″ set of values)
ah.
Here’s how the language actually figures out what to do. It’s got 8 “simple” commands that can be executed easily by *checks notes* running the code itself through the modulo operation and taking the result.
As a bonus, on top of all that every single character in your code will now alter what every single other character does. So I hope you’re alright with cracking a cipher every time you add a new letter to your program!
oh god oh fuck.
behold, Malbolge’s primary arithmetic operation and what you’ll be using for most of your math while programming with it :)
This looks specifically designed to be the least logical math operation you could make, and knowing what the rest of Malbolge is I’d wager that’s precisely what happened. I never want to ever use this and it’s my favorite thing I’ve ever seen.

Anyways here’s the wiki page if you wanna read through it more deeply, I’m gonna sit here holding in my laughter staring at the hello world program again.
Programming languages for furries:
* cobra
* cowsel
* dog
* foxpro
* fish
* gamemonkey script
* grasshopper
* lynx
* mouse
* neko
* pike
* python
* ratfor/ratfiv
* serpent
* swift
* squirrel
* unicorn
* wyvern
* zebra
Honorable mention:
* squeak
* Apache Pig Latin
* moo
* wolfram
Dishonorable mentions:
* viper (it's for some cryptocurrency bullshit)
Mentions:
* NewtonScript (technically contains the word "Newt")
* OCaml (it almost is named O-Camel but it's spelled wrong)
* AWK (it's pronounced the same as the Auk)
Required pedantry: python, my favorite language, is actually named after Monty Python, not the snake.
Do you think any of them (including Kinger) know any other languages or would learn any other languages? AND would any of them learn or know Sign Language specifically?
Ooo that’s an interesting question, I’ve never rlly thought abt this
For spoken language, I’d say none of them are fully fluent, but some of them speak and understand other languages decently:
Kinger knows a little bit of French, Japanese and Spanish. (I don’t rlly have a reason for this other than kinger understanding Japanese in ep 5 and him speaking the others in an ad lool but ->) Let’s say he had an obsession with learning other languages as a kid, but never fully picked up any of them
Ragatha knows a bit of French. She had a “France phase” at some point which included learning French. After that tho, she just genuinely wanted to learn it and practices it from time to time :3
Gangle knows some Japanese, some from Kinger (when she found out he knew some she begged him to teach her) and some from her friend Terumi (@octopus-with-a-glock’s oc >:3)
Pomni, like her dad, also had an obsession with learning other languages at some point. As a result, she knows a little bit of French, Spanish, Russian, Italian, and prob some others but they’re mostly forgotten now (she’d get annoyed with how long each one was taking and then move onto a new one ;-;) She is fully fluent in American Sign Language tho, that was one she was able to stick to ^^
Zooble knows a bit of Japanese cuz of Gangle (basically all the sibs know a bit because of her XD) and they also are fluent in ASL. They learned it together with Poms and they communicate with each other that way sometimes just cuz they feel like it (or if they don’t want Jax to know what they’re saying lmao)
Jax doesn’t know any other spoken languages (aside from some Japanese from Gangle) but when he got older, he secretly started learning ASL so that he could annoy Pom and Zoob lool and not technically a language, but he knows Morse Code, he hyper fixated on it after seeing it in a movie lool
And some bonuses >:3
Caine is fluent in every language because of his power lool (even dead languages)
For programming languages Kinger, Queenie and Scratch are all fluent in C#, C++, Java and Python (<- if u can’t tell, I’m also a programmer lool any other programmers here? XD)
Here are most of the GUI and terminal interface shots I got from the new TADC episode. It's great when media puts effort into getting the details right - one of the reasons I loved Pantheon, with their throwaway computer shots with Python AI code. It 's not every day that you see Common List Processing Language referenced in media these days! CLISP is a variant of the Lisp programming language family, the second oldest higher-level programming language. Very strongly influenced by Alonzo Church's Lambda Calculus, and a ground-breaking language whose influence is felt even today. As a language it's very versatile and is easier to do metaprogramming - a technique to allow programs to treat other programs as their data. Can certainly see that being plot relevant! Topically, also one of the first main AI programming languages! The more modern variants would be Haskell or Clojure for those interested in some fun languages to learn! Coincidentally CLISP is the first language I actually truly used to self-teach programming back in the day. Even more reason to love this show!

I really need to stop posting online the stuff I am still working on, so I could still have the option to give up if I want
Basically I am working on analysing the cmd prompt from episode 8 (thing kinger was working on the computer) and I what I didn't release was that this isn't just plain cmd, there has been a programming language inserted in it,so the cmd is just like the place where you program but you know it's not so bad, it's not so bad all programming languages are similar they just different syntax (grammar for programming), I can understand the majority of it, anything I don't understand, Google is right there, Googling which tags(code in html like <strong> <body>, this is called a "body" tag for an example and you put what you can see in the webpage inside it) is pretty normal and nobody expects you to know every module in python or to know every tag in html like did you know there something called <bookquote> and it's literally what says you put exact quote from a book like this is how it would be used
"<bookquote>I am right behind you aren't I? </bookquote>"
I made it small so it would fit in one line and I didn't know this tag existed until one of my assignments was "look for a tag used for specifically book quotes"
Anyway aside from that figuring out the code in cmd means is manageable, will take longer than expected but manageable and I don't mind working it
And I was working on it right now but all the progress I made today was deleted, it wasn't a lot but I need a second before going back to working on it,I am still gonna do it,I just need a little break
can somebody please, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, make a GOOD quantum programming language that FUCKING WORKS and it's not a FUCKING PYTHON LIBRARY and have basics like:
State preparation (can't do that in QASM)
The ability to control non-unitary gates (can't do that in Cirq)
Have good structs (I'm looking at you Q#)
Can get the inverse of an arbitrary gate like a state prep (also can't do that in Cirq)
Can simulate a circuit and use GPU parallelism to speed up the process without having to download a WHOLE ANOTHER LIBRARY JUST FOR THE FUCKING GPU PARALLELISM NOT TO WORK (can't do that in Qiskit)
HAVE A NORMAL QUBIT ORDERING (YES I'M LOOKING AT YOU QISKIT, FUCK LITTLE ENDIAN)
