My life has just been physics recently 😩 Also, I had to get up at 3:30 this morning because my dad forgot something at home and I had to drop it off to him at the airport. Took a nap but am still exhausted and nothing I read seems to stick in my head, plus my focus is at an all time low 😪😪 Any suggestions?
Tips to Ace Biochemistry
Was I the only one? I probably cried ten times. I wanted to make a blog post on Biochemistry and share some tips with you all on how to ace it.
Tip #1: Make good study guides!
Often, I would do is write notes while reading through my textbook. Then, I try to make a simple summary sheet of all my notes. For example, there are a number of properties for each amino acid. Some of them are shared, such as nonpolar or polar, while others are unique.
You can check out my video for an example of the study guide I used.
I found another example while searching on Google. I hope it helps visualize what I am talking about.
Tip #2: Connect Metabolic Concepts Together
In the latter part of biochemistry, there will be a ton of metabolic reactions/processes. So, connect the concepts together. This picture is a sample that I found online.
Tip #3: Practice! Practice! Practice!
I think one thing people forget to mention about biochemistry is the course contains math. Yah, math! Especially in the beginning, when studying enzyme kinetic equations. So, practicing problems is important.
Some resources are:
1. Textbook
2. Ask your professor for practice problems
3. Search online - here is an example: https://canvas.brown.edu/courses/843821/pages/old-exams
Tip #4: Use YouTube
1. Moof University - best biochemistry videos on metabolism.
2. AK Lectures - best videos on enzyme kinetics.
