Took Hana for an explore down the river. We had a great time and she loved exploring and did really well until the end when a woman kept throwing a stick past us for her retriever to jump in the river. The retriever was fine and ignored Hana completely but he ran too close to us at one point which made Hana react and she lunged towards him and kicked out at him with her front paw, making the other dog yelp in surprise. The woman then asked us questions about Hana. “Oh how old is she, she’s a rescue? Do you watch the Dog Whisperer??” We had to explain that yes she’s a rescue, yes your dog is fine he just yelped in surprise, and then (through our teeth) yes we have seen the Cesar Salad on the tv and that we have even read dog training books (lmao don’t assume we don’t know anything about dogs stupid woman). I must explain that we were at the bottom of the bank with one way back up and she was throwing sticks down it so we had to struggle up to stop a worse reaction by the slippery rocks.

Babydog impressed me again with how he handled a super busy and hectic show weekend. He was outgoing and social with everyone he met, and he was a perfect gentleman when crated in a very busy area surrounded by a ton of dogs. He has an incredibly stable temperament.
Unfortunately, Zaku managed to wrench his neck running like a hoodlum after a toy. I iced it this morning and will ice it every day. I'll also walk him strictly in harness until he's recovered. Hopefully he'll be feeling a lot better by this Friday, which is the tervuren specialty.
