So while researching for my future post about the Hera-borne kids headcanons (which is coming rather slow... sorry XD)  the story about Angelos/Angelia really hits me hard. On one hand, I love Hera a lot because of her morally grey character and her flaws and a hundred other badass things I won’t mention in this post, but on the other hand sometimes I want to grab her by the shoulders and yell “YA GOTTA STOP MAM” everytime i read about her trying to kill/persecute some lover/child who’s innocent.

We all know Hera’s not a great example of a good mom: Hephaestus is the living proof of that. But this story... it’s kind of like the ancient example of the modern-day equivalent of the “kid running away because they did something wrong and parent is angry at them” scenario in which, both are at fault  (unlike in Hephaestus’ story where it was entirely Hera’s doing and fault as well)

Here’s why:

1. Angelos should have never stolen Hera’s appointments- Kids, if your mom is literally suffering so much because of your dad’s infidelity, you don’t steal your mom’s belongings and give them to his mistress. You just don’t. I’ve read a post about how Angie was “helping” Europa, but upon further research, I couldn’t find anything that indicates that. So why would she do that? Does she want to piss off her mom? Is it because Hera started neglecting her kids that it became a cry of attention? Is she mad that she was raised by nymphs and not her own mother? Honestly, I don’t know. Whatever motive she had, the outcome was clear: her mom gets hurt.

2. Hera should have handled the situation better- She’s your daughter, Hera. Kids fuck up all the time. That doesn’t mean that you can hunt her down in your mad rage and force her to live a place she’s not familiar with. I get the reason why she’s mad, but her actions? Horrible. Honestly, if they just had communicated instead of playing hide and seek, this whole crisis would be averted (if you’re saying Hera’s still mad.... “Hera seized from prosecuting her”)
