So over the last week or two I haven't been thinking much about whether or not plurality is a useful framework for describing my experience of self.
Instead, I've been trying to figure out that if I'm plural, how many distinct alters do I have?

hindsight is so funny like yeah hi my name is john singlet you can tell im john singlet because i have no sense of identity, no consistent gender pronouns or name, no consistent interests tastes or artstyle, am constantly forgetting things or dropping activities after getting "bored" midway through, randomly remember traumatic memories and then forget them again, sometimes feel symptoms of certain disorders much more or less, and regularly hold full conversations with fictional characters mentally. sometimes i think "man itd make so much sense if i was a system" which is very bad to think and just cannot ever be true because i don't notice hard walls of amnesia where i abruptly cannot remember anything and i don't ever find myself in the middle of nowhere with no recollection of how i got there. im sure if i just keep trying to construct a solid personality one day it won't sometimes feel completely suffocating đź‘Ť
Me, a clueless plegg: I dunno I just really like stories where multiple people are forced to share a body, or when a character talks to different versions of themself in the mindscape, or when characters fuse into one person, or when one person splits into multiple people, or when-
prediscovery osdd culture is going "oh does anybody else ever feel like their favorite character sometimes" and then ppl go yes and youre like great must be normal ! until u realize they mean it in the way where they just relate to them and not in the way where nagito komaeda is in line at the bank

[system egg/egg carton voice]: Yeah I've been listening to Me And My Husband By Mitski a lot, for some reason I feel like it would work really well for an animatic about the plural experience/realizing you're plural? Especially with the lyric "it's always been just him and me / together" with, like, the mc looking at themselves in the mirror. No idea why though haha. Also the other personality looks a lot like this guy I sometimes talk to in my brain. Still singlet tho lol.
Hahaha no I’m not a system I just talk to my novel characters outside the normal business hours and have long nightly chats with them about what it means to live versus to survive. It definitely doesn’t mean I have system stuff happening, all writers are like that!!!
