One more thing about ‘Ya She’ that makes no sense in an oddly pleasant way:
As someone who enjoys sweet escapist fix-it fanfiction, I can appreciate staying away from anything truly dark and disturbing;
but, as someone who had to sit through 2 semesters of Drama Theory, I wonder why the screen adaptations – especially the live-action one, which underwent extensive rewriting anyway, – would still chose to trudge through all those ultimately irrelevant side-quests, instead of diving directly into the good stuff.
>SPOILERS<
Sometimes I have to laugh. This right here is not a metaphor but an actual sentence. Thinking about using these characters as a foreshadowing device tho. It would be so funny.

What is the death trap plot device?
In this post, we define the death trap, include types of death traps, and share plenty of examples.
You will also learn how you can use it in your own books.

I really hate that they used Root as a plot device twice. First they killed her so Finch would finally act. Then they dug up her cochlear implant so that Samaritan can find the location of the subway 🥲
Let me ramble about the complexities of free will, baby
Hypnotised vs hypnotist. Mind controlled vs controller. New thrall vs brainwasher. Possessed vs possessor. Glitching android vs new programming. New branch vs collective hivemind. Unwilling host vs invasive parasite. Vessel vs entity.
Consenting and eager vs struggling and desperate. Happily gets off on it vs screaming for mercy, freedom, help. Pleasurable and relaxing vs horrifying and agonising. Duty bound and proud vs sacrificed and afraid.
Nobody noticing vs everybody noticing. Obvious and glaring vs subtle and discrete. Kept in their usual form vs twisted behind recognition. Speaking as themselves vs lost to the controller. Aware vs unconscious.
It’s so versatile and complex, you can do it so many ways and have no two be quite the same!!!!!!
Anyone else find the "I don't wanna die alone so I'm not going to tell anyone about me getting infected" trope annoying as hell? Like, I understand that you don't want to die alone. Nobody wants to die alone. That doesn't mean you should put everyone else at risk too! Just tell them your infected and that once the infection takes over, to kill you then. You could still enjoy your last moments with them and not get them killed. A win win. I kinda understand wanting to just off them on the spot because of the risks, but still. I think the trope is just dumb when we could just TALK ABOUT IT AND FIND A SOLUTION!!! Also, you could use that as a way for the main characters to be more hasty in find a cure. Or if they weren't looking for a cure, well now they are. Plot devices that don't include stupidity!
