I had so much fun at the @penguinteen Fall 2024 Preview event and received a bunch of new ARCS!!

★ What books with royals drama would you recommend? I haven’t read Prince Harry’s Spare yet (in fact I am 799th in line with one of my libraries 🥴) but I do love reading about messy drama between fictional royals, and at the top of that list is @katharinemcgee’s American Royals series. I still need to read Rivals, but secrets and lies, forbidden romance, petty differences, questions of succession, on-the-edge-of-your-seat OMG moments … these books have it all. 𝗦𝗔𝗕𝗔𝗔 𝗧𝗔𝗛𝗜𝗥 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗧⁣ ⁣ I adore Sabaa’s books and last night I was lucky enough to be able to attend her event for All My Rage. It was my first in person author even in two years and it was perfect. It was so amazing to hear Sabaa talk about her book and so much more. She spoke so eloquently and really inspired me. Plus there were lots of laughs! ⁣ ⁣ I even worked up the courage to ask a question! My anxiety makes it hard to do that a lot of times, so I was so proud of myself. ⁣ ⁣ I seriously cannot recommend Sabaa’s books enough. AEITA is one of my all time favorite FAVORITE series, and All My Rage was an absolutely incredible read (check out my review ~ link in bio!). ⁣ ⁣ Thank you to @andersonsbookshop and @sabaatahir for putting on this event. Book Review……..Luck of the Titanic by Stacey Lee With the tickets in her hand Valora is excited to board the Titanic. It has been two years since she has seen her twin brother & she is looking forward to reuniting with him. But when Val is turned away & not allowed to board Valora hides as a stowaway & disguises herself as a widowed lady. In constant danger of being discovered she should keep her head down but she needs to find her brother & convince him to join the famous American circus as a sibling acrobat. But that's not the only hurdle Val has to face in the year of 1912, America issued the Chinese Exclusion Act which would mean they wouldn’t be allowed to enter the country upon arriving. But Valora already has a plan to impress the circus master, become one of his acrobat performers, enter America & hopefully a fresh start for a better life. But the staff are becoming suspicious & there's the disaster that we all know is coming, time is not on their side. We had a wonderful time with this book! There are so many topics to touch on with this book it created quite a lively chat! The storyline had a lightness to it that there were many times you forget your on the titanic. The writing is wonderful! The descriptions were so well-done that I almost felt like was actually on the Titanic with them. The memories from the past were added in perfectly! Stacey Lee did a wonderful job bringing these people to life for us! The bond between Val & Jamie was great! You can absolutely tell they are twins! As a group Valora was a large part of our discussion. She is fierce, strong & of course her determination was a force all in itself! The ending was heartbreaking but it was also perfect! The author's note at the end detailing her inspiration for the story based on the 6 Titanic survivors who are of Chinese descent was absolutely amazing! ℚ𝕆𝕋𝔻: What was your last five star read?⁣ ⁣ I finished All My Rage last night and it was absolutely incredible!! It was beautiful, inspiring, devastating, and heartbreaking. I felt so connected to Noor and Salahudin as they each confronted love, family, grief, regret, healing, and (of course) rage. ⁣ ⁣ An Ember in the Ashes is one of my all time favorite series so I already knew that Sabaa’s writing and storytelling were stunning. But she outdid herself with All My Rage. She navigates sensitive issues and storylines with grace, empathy, and compassion. ⁣ ⁣ All My Rage tore my heart into a million pieces. And then it put it back together. ℚ𝕆𝕋𝔻: Do you like to read historical fiction? ⁣ ⁣ I do!! I especially love all the books I’ve read by Ruta Sepetys! My favorite thing about Ruta’s books is that she chooses topics that are lesser known or that history has forgotten. She devotes her life to research and telling these stories. This means I get to read an incredible story plus I also get to learn about pieces of history that I had no of limited knowledge of. ⁣ ⁣ Ruta Sepetys has once again accomplished this in I Must Betray You by sharing the moving and tragic story of Romania in its communist era in 1989. I highly recommend this book (plus all of Ruta’s other works)! And make sure to read the author’s notes from Ruta. Reading Ruta’s authors notes is actually one of my favorite parts of reading her books. I’m nearing 50% on All My Rage by @SabaaTahir thanks to @PenguinTeen (#PenguinTeenPartner)… it’s hard to even describe my feelings about this book because the writing is so powerful. Tahir has a gift - she truly knows how to make us dig deep and feel.
