Hi there, a genuine question but do you have any resources on Papuan magick, folklores etc.? And can a Papuan practice Afrocentric religion and practices? Cheers
Hey there! I really wish I could pass some along to you, but I’ve never studied any Papuan magic or folklore and hardly know anything at all about the culture. So I wouldn’t even know the difference between authentic sources for it or not, which is why I won’t try to look things up to link for you. I have no connection to this culture and as far as I know, it’s very, very much an indigenous culture that would be closed in most ways? If anyone sees this who might know something or have authentic sources, please comment/reblog to help out anon (:
With regards to whether or not someone can practice Afrocentric religions and practices, please see this post for which Africana religions are open/closed/semi-closed and this post for whether you can practice hoodoo. These posts do address ancestry, which is different for every person and you’d need to look at your own family tree and also look at each specific religion, tradition, and practice. If you have more questions after reading these posts that they don’t answer, feel free to hit me up with another ask!
