Below you will find summaries on planets that may have a conflicting nature within a house stellium, or even if they share any house. Learn more about House Stelliums here.
☀️
Sun - Saturn: These two planets have very different energies. The Sun is considered a benefic planet and Saturn malefic. The Sun associated with vitality, grandness, magnetism, light and Saturn with bad luck, negative heavy feelings, and trials. The Sun is hot and Saturn cold. Saturn isn’t always “bad”, Saturn can act as a great teacher and is associated with great reward after hard work. But in a stellium these two energies push and pull in the same house. The Sun wants to express, shine, give and take, be recognized, celebrate, play, influence. Saturn is about restriction or boundaries. Saturn can suppress or control. When these two planets conjunct the identity tends to be guarded or overly serious. There can also be a scattered, frustrated influence and conflict in the realm of maturity, stability, and responsibility.
Sun - Neptune: We have wide awake Sun and sleepy Neptune. The mystical and slippery planet is actually exalted in Leo, the sign the Sun rules over. Neptune and Sun aren’t opposites, planet’s don’t have the same type of compatibility system as signs. Even while there is no obvious point of conflict their energies are very different. The Sun in the 1st House tends to increase extroversion, puts identity at the forefront of lessons and challenges, and being in touch with what makes someone an individual, what makes them different is emphasized. Neptune is about the dissolving of the ego, it is about empathy, returning to the whole or collective, Neptune is about what connects us to others on a deep and fundamental level. When sharing a House there is a push and pull between wanting to stand out and relating to others or embracing an ever-changing identity.
Sun - Pluto: You have Sun as birth and life, Pluto as death, destruction, with the possibility of rebirth - but not always. You have the light and the dark in your stellium with these two. The Sun can be hot, it can be BIG, authoritative, charismatic, powerful. Pluto in reality is a cold far off planet but in astrology is associated with explosive power and destruction, Pluto will always be the intensity hidden in the quiet, seemingly cold depths. The Sun is out in the open always, Pluto lurks beneath the waves. The Sun is what it is while Pluto is about regeneration and transmutation. Pluto changes things with pressure, destruction, subversion, revelation, and joining. One of the most common points of conflict for these two planets is the urge to express and warm vs. the urge to hide, protect, and manipulate.
*Bonus: Sun - Mars: You could argue Sun and Mars conflict within a stellium because the Sun is benefic - it is a generous, inspiring, sometimes anchoring influence while Mars is malefic and is about destruction, anger, war, conflict. However both are heated influences that can share many themes such as passion, liveliness, and action. I typically don’t consider Sun and Mars too much at odds when acting in a stellium. In fact from a Sun - Mars conjunction can give an individual a LOT of energy, ego and identity can be touchy but the personality is in sync with one’s drive and passion.
🌕
The Moon plays almost a tricky role in stelliums as its energy is reflective. While considered a malefic in some forms of astrology due to its expression always being purely emotional, the Moon can in a sense almost get along or war with any other planet. e.g. Moon + Mars can make someone volatile but it also gives passion and a strong sense of self-respect to the inner emotional self. Below are a few planets that may get hard to interpret when the Moon is in a stellium or sharing a house with them.
Moon - Uranus: Uranus is a chaotic planet that is about change, rebellion, and non-conformity. This isn’t really the challenge when interacting with the Moon which adapts, flows, feels. Uranus is also about the higher mind. Both the Moon and Uranus can relate in their impulsiveness to think or act irrationally. The randomness of Uranus and the sensitivity of the Moon can work, but Uranus has its moments of logic and rigidness. Uranus in a House symbolizes independence, mental innovation, and separation whereas the Moon wants closeness, dependency, receptivity, and is rooted in subjective feeling. Uranus can bring about revolution, rebellion, and destruction whereas the Moon likes the comfort of predictable cycles and is about nurturing and is more likely to make peace than to disrupt. Uranus trine, sextile, or conjunct Moon can have a healthy and unique form of emotional expression and amazing intuition, but within a stellium I can see these two as opposing placements when it comes to the themes of the House. Moon in the 4th craves kin and deep roots, Uranus in the 4th may seek out a new family or separation from family.
Moon - Saturn: When Saturn aspects Moon or vice versa in a natal chart there is usually emotional blockage or suppression. Moon in the 2nd needs security and an emotional connection to their “stuff”. Safety is an important matter usually addressed with nurturing, softness, reassurance, and guardedness. Saturn in the 2nd can be overly practical, not understanding the irrational responses of the Moon in such a pragmatic house. Saturn in the 7th learns to form sturdy boundaries in their relationships, Moon in the 7th can either give too much of themselves or frequently don’t address their needs in relationships. The Moon focuses heavily on the emotions of others while Saturn focuses on what makes a relationship last for both people. Saturn is also on the look out for relationships that are filled with responsibility and maturity, whereas the Moon is attracted to those who are sensitive, need help, or are emotionally stimulating and appealing.
Moon - Jupiter: Caution vs. impulsiveness is the main challenge I see with these two planets in a stellium. Jupiter is a benefic planet and aspects with the Moon can be very favorable, but Jupiter in a house expands, brings optimism, questioning, and rituals. Jupiter is a curious, brave, sometimes reckless force. The Moon in a house protects, listens, nurtures, and nest.
*Bonus: Mars and Pluto: An easy Moon - Mars aspect, even the conjunct can have its benefits. However Mars's destructive nature can bump heads with the Moon's symbolism towards caring and nurturing. However these two planets can emphasize passion and instincts.
Pluto and Moon can understand each other’s depths. Pluto’s drive to face their inner demons can be a powerful thing when in relation to the Moon, but Pluto can go too far and is the planet of “going too far”. The Moon and Pluto in a House overflows with emotions, it isn’t that this pair is contradicting but it certainly marks a lot of shadow work, inner turmoil, self-destructive tendencies, and inner power that are involved in the House stellium.
♂
Mars - Venus: Mars and Venus relationship will always be dramatic, fated, needed much like in the myths. But Venus and Mars are contrasting planets in their associations and in a stellium could be a place of confusion and conflict. Venus cooperates, persuades, charms, and attracts. Mars initiates, forces, competes, and impresses.
Mars - Neptune: Mars wants action, Neptune wants to dream, Mars is about conflict, competition, ambition whereas Neptune is about healing, forgiveness, acceptance, and rest or idleness. These two in a stellium present very different things. For example Mars in the 2nd indicates someone who goes after wealth aggressively or competitively. Neptune in the 2nd tends to not value physical possessions or money that much or may approach it abstractly.
Mars - Chiron: Mars is about fighting and Chiron healing - this is the surface level conflict. But Mars can help empower Chiron when aspected well. Chiron in a house pushes introspection and intuition. Mars it looking outward but many times feeling inward. There can be harmony here especially when facing inner conflict and trying to solve complex dilemmas, but there will be a lot of trial and error with these influences.
Mars - Ceres: Ceres is an asteroid about nurturing and caring and is typically aligned with feminine associations. You have macho Mars with active energy and heated influences. Ceres in the 9th or 10th can have an interest in medical or caregiving careers and knowledge, Mars can accompany this with high ambition. But Mars can cause frustration and burnout especially alongside Ceres which may find comfort in many subjects when in the 9th or hiding away from public view in the 10th.
*Bonus: Mars - Saturn: I don’t find these two planets to be too conflicting when talking about stelliums. Yes, Mars is “hot” and Saturn “cold” and there is the chance Saturn can block some of Mar’s drive - but Saturn is also a planet of strategy, discipline, ambition much like Mars, and valuable or practical knowledge. These planets can help each other at times.
♀
Venus - Saturn: A conjunct between these two planets tends to manifest as a lack of reassurance, affection, and romance. The conjunct can be promising for practicality and stability in relationships, but overall Saturn and Venus are on different levels. Saturn has no time for sentiment, dreams, or shallowness. Venus is all about indulging and connecting. Venus is romance and aesthetics. Not to mention Venus is considered a benefic and Saturn malefic. Saturn in the 5th is no nonsense and easily feels guilty about too much pleasure. Venus takes it all in and understands the importance of play, celebration, pleasure, and love affairs.
Venus - Uranus: Sometimes Venus likes excitement but ultimately this is a planet that prefers the comfortable and certainly loves attention. Uranus’s energy can be too erratic. Uranus in the 7th is easily distracted, highly independent, and associated with unconventional relationships. Venus in the 7th is highly romantic and frequently on the prowl for their next partner. Venus dreams of the perfect marriage, Uranus falls in love with ideas and projects. Uranus and Venus together can work together and they may highly idealize others’ minds and individuality. But you may see contradictions between independence - dependency, sentiment - detachment, comfort - unknown, tradition - nonconventional with these two.
☿
Mercury can be known as a benefic but in some systems is sometimes referred to as a neutral planet or even the only neutral planet. Because of this Mercury can in a way “get along” with almost any planet. If there were to be confusion or common contradictions it may be with the outer planets. Mercury is very personal as it is the core of our self-expression, opinions, and learning. The outer planets are not very personal in their influence for the most part. So below is a small synopsis of the challenges between Mercury and the outer planets.
Mercury - Jupiter: Facts vs. belief, perception vs. faith or visualization, Mercury tends to deal with the now and Jupiter looks towards the future, details vs. big picture, gossip, eloquence, or charm vs. bluntness, conscience, free-thinking, and rituals or practice. Mercury is schools, town centers, markets, libraries and Jupiter is churches, palaces, courts, altars.
Mercury - Saturn: Curiosity vs. restriction, tradition, or fear, ideas vs. action, coordination and teamwork vs. leadership and authority, individual learning vs. mentorship or long-held group traditions, education or knowledge vs. wisdom.
Mercury - Uranus: Cooperation vs. rebellion, details or the mundane vs. higher mind or genius, connection vs. detachment, separation, breakdown, logical intellect vs. social or intellectual intuition and innovation.
Mercury - Pluto: Communication vs. privacy or secrecy, jack of all trades vs. in-depth knowledge or mastery, curiosity vs. obsession, cooperation and lightheartedness vs. power and intensity, gossip or rumors vs. secrets, speech or words vs. feelings and vibes, active and attentive mind vs. unconscious mind.
Mercury - Neptune: Logic vs. intuition, intellect vs. feeling, reason or even practicality vs. spirituality, wit, humor, originality vs. inspiration, memory vs. dreams.
♃
Jupiter - Saturn: Jupiter is expansion and abundance while Saturn is restriction and scarcity or conserving. Jupiter is associated with joy, optimism, luck (typically good but this is debatable), and generosity. Saturn is associated with more heavy and negative emotions such as fear, sorrow, regret, and guilt. Saturn can also be associated with bad luck (this is also debatable). Saturn is known for a realistic or pessimistic outlook. They have their clear differences in a stellium. However I do want to note both have their commonalities - both can be teachers, are associated with growth and karma, and can be bringers of consequences.
Jupiter - Neptune: Jupiter wants to fly, grow, give, yell, sing, celebrate - Neptune wants to sleep, dream, meditate, isolate, maybe make art, get lost, escape. Both can be indulgent influences but in different ways. Jupiter in the 2nd or 10th wants to grow their wealth or career, Neptune in these houses wants to fulfill the soul in the realm of the practical, and many times this may not mean pursuing wealth or prestige.
♄
Saturn - Neptune: Saturn in a Stellium shows trials, responsibility, burdens, where work needs to be done, a chance for success, thriving, or survival. Neptune wants to shed the burdens. Neptune pushes people to look outside the tangible and mundane. Both planets can appreciate or see the big picture but Saturn is strategy and Neptune intuition.
Saturn - Uranus: Saturn is a rule follower or maker and Uranus a rule breaker. In a Stellium the conventional and odd fight each other. Saturn is structure and order, Uranus is chaos and anarchy. These two planets have a lot of contrast and the manifestation of this in a house can be LOUD.
*Bonus: Saturn - Chiron: It isn’t so much that these two influences clash but Chiron in a stellium pushes introspection and understanding whereas Saturn may be resistant to this. Chiron can also be associated with paradoxes, enigmas, fragmentation, separation, but also joining. Chiron can in a way be whatever it needs to be for healing, messages, caring, and integration. Whereas Saturn is about solidarity, limits, strictness.
♆ ♇
Neptune - Pluto: Neptune and Pluto aren’t exactly opposites and you could find many associations that they share. But in stelliums Neptune is usually pulling towards softness, being lost, confusion, vagueness, it is about escape. Pluto pulls towards intensity, heat, elimination, corruption or purifying, it is about pressure. Pluto and Neptune in the 4th indicates deep wounds and roots to home, family, and ancestry, both planets calling on a person to heal family trauma or end cycles. Neptune wants to do this by floating away or becoming a falling star with forgiveness, mysticism, art, gentleness, service, sacrifice, maybe addiction, subtle changes and insight. Pluto wants to do this with eruptions and earthquakes, through empowerment, power shifts, purpose, rawness, perception, confrontation, and extreme transformations.

How does Mars in Gemini transit is affecting Gemini Sign?
GEMINI: This transit of Mars is significant to you because Mars will be in your zodiac sign and it may affect all the areas in your life, in general. This suggest that you are physically and mentally active, and extremely motivated during this period. You may take action toward your physical appearance, especially, when it comes to exercising or undertaking any physical activities which could improve your body health and shape wise. You also may be in constant move/short travels and definitely you are likely to be socially active, meeting friends, sharing knowledge and information, connecting personally or within your social network circle. Please, do remember that this period could be very productive period because all the other planets are direct, and Saturn and Jupiter are in favourable aspect with Mars. Use this energy wisely!
This is a general overview of Mars in Gemini transit, but how exactly will be implemented in your life it very much depends on your personal horoscope.
Possibly my best picture to date, this was taken 2 weeks ago in May 2017 in Tenerife, Spain. The image is a stack of 3 images which has been processed to extract the detail in the dust lanes. I took this at about 2 am at 2138m on the side of a Volcano. Canon 6D, Samyang 24mm, F5.6 ISO 800 X 3
